His pose is what makes him unusual. Rather than sitting, standing or crouching, this cat is lying down with his head on his paws, looking up at us with his pretty blue eyes. Lovely expression, very watchful, very catlike. Grey and white cat measures about 5 inches long. Bottom is unglazed and is stamped JAPAN under a wreath-and-clover symbol which I have been unable to identify. A former owner has written Santa Fe New Mexico on the bottom. Perhaps Kitty was the souvenir of a vacation trip. Porcelain cat is in excellent condition, although thoroughly crazed due to age, and the bottom has the writing that was already mentioned. Bottom of chin is not completely glazed. But there are no chips or cracks. This is a beautiful piece.
