Church ladies are the best cooks! Recipes include Black George Cake, Swedish Coffee Cake, Stuffed French Rolls, Aloha Panocha, Mexican Pecan Candy, After-Dinner Jelly Mints, Sweepstakes Chocolate Cake (1947 Nebraska State Fair Prize Winner), Burnt Sugar Frosting, Lady Baltimore Cake, Russian Tea Loaf, Kick Shaws, Tomato Jam, Liver Casserole, Chicken Pie, Chicken Turbitt, German Shortcake, Brown Sugar Gelatine Salad, Macaroni Luncheon Dish, Scalloped Corn and Celery, and more. Many of the baking recipes say "Bake slowly" or "Bake in hot oven" which tells us that the women who baked these items used wood stoves, ovens that did not have thermostats. Soft cover book with plastic binding. Fair condition; edges of pages are brown with a little damage and a few pages are loose, but book is readable. Business ads may be of interest to anyone who is researching Ord or Nebraska history. 144 pages.
