Bent Karlby was a Danish architect who designed lamps and wallpaper, winning a wallpaper competition by the American Institute of Decorators in 1946. After that, some American companies produced his wallpaper designs. I have not been able to find any of his textile designs, except for this scarf. Scarf is a creamy, soft white with teal and coral borders. A food and drink motif covers the scarf, including names of wines, regions, or restaurants, such as Coq d’Or, Volnay, Cheval-Blanc, Margaux, Chateaux La Tour, Beaujolais, Vosne Nuits, Quart-de-Chaume, Mersault, Cantenac, Porto, and more, plus images of foods, including a dish labeled "la supreme de foie gras." Scarf measures 35 by 35 inches and is machine-hemmed on two sides with a selvege on the other two sides. It has Bent Karlby’s name in one corner, and Fiedlers Kattuntryk Copenhagen in the opposite corner. You don’t have to understand Danish to understand that a wine lover or foodie or Francophile would love this scarf! Excellent condition. Scarf would be an unusual decorative touch in your dining or entertaining area, perhaps for your next wine tasting party.
