OLD ART DECO PINK CELLULOID RHINESTONE HAT PIN ORNAMENT
Just in exclusively to the internet comes this dynamite art deco celluloid hat ornament. Dating back to the flapper era of the 1920s and 30s, this great accessory measures about 4 1/2" at its longest poing and 2 3/8" at its widest.
Sometimes referred to as a hat pin (hatpin), this is also called a hata ornament and was used for ornamental purposes of adorning a cloche. Back during the Roaring Twenties, a lady would attach a hat ornament to further decorate herself, showing her to be a true flapper girl.
This piece has a strikingly assymetrical design in pale pink celluloid. It forms an arrow and is made of two pieces which connect by screwing together with a thin metal piece. Both pieces have round faceted rhinestones set into them and a marbelized finish with subtle etchings throughout. When worn, the metal would not show; only the terrific celluloid with its screaming deco design.
In excellent condition, the hat ornament is intact and ready to wear. All original, the piece was either never worn or very gently used...the stones are brilliant and clear, the celluloid strong and free of damage or repair. Even the screw in section is fine, while many have stripped out over the years. Surely a welcomed addition to the most advanced of collections, why not add this one to YOURS today?
