Lovely heavy 1892 to 1893 Chicago World's Fair souvenir spoon. Wonderful design of two globes make up the end. Stamped on the back "STERLING" and it has the hallmark of a "W" in a circle as well as the seller's hallmark "O.D. Peacock" or it may be "C.D." The W is the Frank Whiting hallmark.

According to the internet: "The Frank M. Whiting & Co. was founded in 1878 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts by the son of William Whiting, the founder of the Whiting Manufacturing Co. In 1897 the company was incorporated and later was purchased by the Ellmore Silver Company of Meriden, CT. Their line included sterling silver flatware, hollowware, novelties, souvenir spoons, and baby goods."

Measures about 5 3/4" long. Engraved "Idelle" in the bowl and again on the back. Wonderful Columbian Exposition souvenir. Also has a "1492" and a "1892" in a raised design on the back. Superb Art Nouveau period piece.

Excellent condition. No damage or repair. Sold as found, unpolished, nice patina.

Click for more detail...
4831
RARE ANTIQUE WORLD'S FAIR EXPO PARIS STEREOSCOPE VIEWER From my own collection, sold as found, imperfect. No slider and one lens is missing. No velvet on the edge. Hand crafted aluminum, Worlds Exposition insignia, wooden handle is marked "SATURN" scope. Trademarks 1895 and 1896.

This is a nice and VERY rare stereoscope or stereo viewer from late 19th century. The late Victorian stereoscope is from the 1900 Exposition Internationale. (International exposition). It is marked The "Saturn" Scope and has 1896 patent dates. It also is marked "James Davis 21 Washington Place NY USA". .

The viewer is about 13" long and is in good condition with a few apologies. The little slider is missing, the velvet has deteriorated, one of the pieces of glass is no longer present, and one stud is missing from the aluminum section. Despite these apologies, this is a lovely piece sure to be a great addition to your collection of antique photo memorabilia!

Terrific antique collectible and perfect to enjoy as it is and display or restore and use it with stereoscope slides.

Price reflects condition. FINAL SALE.

Click for more detail...
4226
ANTIQUE HEAVY BRASS 1933 CHICAGO EXPO WORLD'S FAIR TRAY This is a very nice 1933 Chicago World's Fair Collectible tray measuring 10" by 7". It shows what looks like an aerial view etched into the brass of the festivities of this fabulous fair. All sorts of buildings are depicted as well as a tiny blimp (zepelin, dirigible?) towards the left top corner and a couple of little airplanes. In very nice condition, the tray shows minor wear and surface scratches but nothing to detract from the scene. The lip of the tray also shows some minimal use and has a tiny hole at the center top...this may have been there originally to hang onto a wall. I'm unsure, but it doesn't detract. This has been a keeper for years; I've never seen it in any guides, so I'm not sure how rare it is.

3965
1958 MODERNIST BELGIAN WORLD EXPO ATONIUM BROOCH This is a delightful memento from the 1958 World Fair Exposition in Belgium (Brussels Bruxells). It is a goldtone pin measuriing about 1 5/8" in diameter. A lovely openwork filligree type design surrounds a center medallian or coin center wth the atonium symbol and a "58" off to the side. One little tine off to the top right section has detatched, but it is unnoticeable and non detracting. A lovely piece for the World's Fair collector, this unusual piece is sure to be a welcomed addition to any serious collection of memorabilia, especially the most atomic age of all the fairs.

I puchased this myself while visiting friends in Brussels a few years back.

ANTIQUE ART DECO GREAT CHICAGO WORLD'S FAIR ASHTRAY This is a delightful World's Fair memento of a screaming art deco copper ashtray. Measuring about 3" square, the little dish has streamlined buildings in the center and "A CENTURY OF PROGRESS CHICAGO 1933" above them. Under the buildings is the following: "PLYMOUTH DODGE DE SOTO CHRYSLER". In excellent condition, it could be polished up or enjoyed just as it is. It shows some expected minor wear, but no damage or repair or reserve, so bid now...it makes a nice collectible for lovers of World's Fair memorabilia or transportation and automobile collectibles.

STERL CHICAGO WF COL EXPO NOUVEAU WOMAN SPOON RARE MARK Heavy and rare sterling silver 1893 Chicago World's Fair Columbian Exposition souvenir spoon. Measures about 5 5/8" long. Has a full figure art nouveau woman in flowing dress on the handle in raised relief. Exquisite detail! Expected wear and in great condition. Ornately decorated on front and back. Back says "World's Columbian Exposition 1893". Stamped "STERLING" with a hallmark near the base of the bowl on the back of a "D" in Old english script. I welcome any information on thi maker. When I researched this spoon, the closest one I found sold for $1000 recently and was by Sheibler. I don't know if this is a spoon of that calibre or not and would love to learn more!
