NIPPON? 7pc DESSERT SET SCENIC HAND PAINTED JAPAN You are bidding on one of the prettiest dessert sets I've ever had. A keeper for quite some time, this 7 piece set consists of a handled 9 1/2" platter with 6 matching 6 1/2" dessert plates. I estimate this to date back to the flapper era art deco 20s or 30s.

The set is brilliantly hand painted and each plate is marked on the back with a green stamp as follows:

HAND PAINTED
T T (in diamond shaped boxes)
MADE IN JAPAN

The designs are quite lovely and in amber, green, brown, and purple hues. The rims are each done in an orangey amber with little black polka dots. They have a somewhat airbrushed quality to them, and the cutout sections for the platter's little handles are nicely scalloped.

This lovely set is in excellent condition with very little paint loss, if at all. They appear unused and are free of damage or repair. Imperfections are all original and indicative of hand painted one of a kind pieces. I am not familiar with the "T and T" hallmark and welcome any information that may be shared as to the origin of this Japanese company.

9806
LOVELY JAPAN ANTIQUE BISCUIT BARREL JAR w RATTAN HANDLE Superb vintage piece, circa 1920s-30s. Biscuit barrel or biscuit jar is stamped "MADE IN JAPAN" in black ink. It's about 5 7/8" in diameter and 5" tall with a lovely arched rattan or wicker swivel handle. beautifully hand painted, it has a colorful bird design that repeats twice.

The art pottery piece is as functional as it is lovely. It has no chips or cracks and is vibrant, colorful, and in excellent condition. It has some factory imperfections, only adding character and charm to it. ON the bottom is a little nick that is not on the glazed section and neither detracts nor devalues from the piece. The handle is original and strong too. A perfect addition to any collection!

Click for more detail...
3995
VINTAGE MADE n JAPAN FIGURAL MINI BEN FRANKLIN TOBY MUG This is a dynamite miniature Made in Japan Toby Mug. It's a fabulous figural measuring approximately 2" high. I'm not sure of its exact age, but I'd guess 1940s or so.

The mug appears to be a rendition of Benjamin Franklin. It's a nice likeness with colorful details including his famous rectangular spectacles. The glaze has a glossy finish and the mark "MADE IN JAPAN" is printed in black ink on the bottom.

As a stateman, Ben Franklin was the only person who signed all four of these key documents in American history: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Treaty of Paris making peace with Britain, and the Constitution of the United States. Franklin's services as a diplomat in France helped greatly in winning the Revolutionary War. Many historians consider him the ablest and most successful diplomat that America has ever sent abroad. Don't you just have to have this killer vintage likeness?? And the guy could invent stuff too!

I'd call this mug near mint, as it has a nick on the inside of the lip. It is not noticeable at all...in fact I didn't even see it til just now...you have to look at it from above as from the side, it's invisible. Otherwise, it's perfect and free of damage or repair and ready to add to your collection!

Click for more detail...
3938
ANTIQUE ASIAN BLUE & WHITE SCENIC PORCELAIN BOWL I am not too savvy regarding items like this so bear with me. I was told that this is a good piece that has some age to it, probably at least from the late 1800s. The lovely decorative piece is about 8 1/4" in diameter and 3 3/4" deep. It has a pedestal type base that's 3 1/2" in diameter.

The bowl is blue and white with an awesome scenic design in an airbrush style with abstract trees and mountains. The outside also has a nice design to it. I'm not sure if this is Chinese or Japanese, and I'd welcome information on it. It's quite lovely and would compliment blue and white flo blue or other porcelain.

There are no marks on it, so I'd bet it was considered a higher end piece and not a tourist item. It's in very beautiful condition with one hairline on the side just shy on an inch long and a litle chunk off the bottom pedestal that cannot be noticed at all when displayed...I've included photos to show this piece and I'd rate it a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. This is an important collector's piece that would compliment the finest of decors.

SET 4 VINTAGE ASIAN RICE CHINA CHINESE SAKE TEA CUPS I don't know much about these, so bear with me and share the knowledge if you have it on these!

Set of four cups, I was told for sake, though they could be for tea too. Appears to be hand decorated, blue and orange accents, can be held to the light to see light thru little areas where these were fired with rice grains. Export pieces, signed on bottom CHINA with Chinese writing. Set of 4 is perfect, no damage or repair. Unsure of age, at least 30-50 yrs old, maybe more.

4229
VINTAGE INARCO BISQUE PORCELAIN CHERUB FIGURINE VASE Sweet white bisque porcelain Inarco cherub (cherubim, cupid, angel) from the 1960s. Gold wings and loincloth with painted gold accents around the base. Measures nearly 6" tall with green stamped maker's mark: INARCO CLEVE (Cleveland), OHIO. It looks like the number "E-2013" or "2017" under that, and a black and gold "INARCO JAPAN" sticker still remains.

The cherub holds what looks to be a cornocopia with a basketweave type design. He's nicely detailed with some minor soiling to be expected. Pictures should tell the story. This one's a real cutie and in near mint condition with no chips, nicks, or repairs. Made in Japan, this company is also known for its lady headvases and other planters and vases.

4234
ANTIQUE EARLY NIPPON MARK! NOUVEAU HANPAINTED PLATE Just in from my own collection comes this terrific porcelain plate, measuring 8 1/2" in diameter. Marked on the bottom R O A" and NIPPON", the plate dates back to the early 1900s, I believe, as it has Nippon's early mark and definite Art Nouveau style.

The lovely decorative piece has a classic white background, and all around the border are lovely yellow flowers with green a light blue decorations. Besides being marked Nippon, it also has some other symbols by the maker that I can't quite make out...I welcome any information offered on this early mark.

In excellent condition, the plate is completely free of chipping, damages, or repairs. The painting is vibrant and intact! Sure to be lovely at your next party, in your china cabinet or decorating your wall, why not grab this sweet treasure now?
