RARE ANTIQUE TAF TURKISH ARMED FORCES WW2 ASHTRAY TAF Ashtray, APPRX 6 3/4" diameter, states in raised relief on the border: Tunisia, Sicily, France, Balkans and Italy.

This is a TAF ashtray commemorating the cooperation between the allied air forces during World War II. The insignias in the center of the ashtray represent the United States Army Air Forces, the Royal Air Force (RAF), the South African Air Force, the Australian Air Force & the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

I believe TAF stands for the Turkish Armed Forces. According to my research:

While the flames of World War II were grazing the Turkish borders, the Turkish Army was on duty. Closely monitoring the developments taking place all over the globe after the World War II, the Turkish Armed Forces attracted everyone’s attention in 1950 by participating in the Korean War solely for humanitarian purposes. The reinforced infantry brigade deployed to Korea became a good example to many nations’ armed forces due to its military courage, discipline and spirit it displayed in the wars it participated in. 731 Turkish soldiers became martyrs in Korea.

Becoming a member of the NATOAlliance on February 18, 1952, the Turkish Republic initiated a comprehensive modernisation programme for its Armed Forces. The Turkish Armed Forces, whose power of deterrence continuously increased, proved its power and capabilities once more during the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation. Towards the end of the 80s, a re-structuring process has been initiated in the Turkish Armed Forces.
 

LONG BAKELITE ART DECO FLAPPER ERA CIGARETTE HOLDER Apprx 5 3/4" long, appears to be bakelite, circa 1930s or so, art deco flapper era, interesting subtle design around the bottom era. Shows gentle use, not abuse. Good vintage condition.
 

SWEET ANTIQUE BURL WALNUT AMBER TIP PIPE Early 1900s, apprx 3 1/4" long, sweet miniature pipe made of a burl walnut and an amber tip. Used, not abused. Nice display or to fill with your favorite tobacco. Good vintage condition.
 

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN EDWARDIAN IVORY MATCH SAFE VESTA Apprx 2 3/8" by 1 1/2" and nearly 1/2" thick. Amazingly simple and elegant...it's been in my private collection for many years. Circa late 1800s to early 1900s, Victorian to Edwardian era.

Pristine matchsafe or vesta in solid pre-ban ivory, lovely natural graining, hinged side pieces open on either end. Amazing craftsmanship. Handmade. Striker intact. Hand engraved with monogram initials that appear to be F.C.C. in Olde English script. Unsure of origin, possibly English (British) or even American.

INTERNATIONAL STERLING ENAMEL ASHTRAY & MATCH HOLDER About 1.2 ounces combined weight, this is a rare art deco era circa 1920s-30s solid sterling silver and enamel round dish ashtray with a matching rectangular match holder. The little ashtray is stamped International Sterling 22 and is about 3" in diameter. The matchbox holder is about 1 1/8" by a tad under 1 3/4".

The diminutive set has a rich green enamel band around the border, matching its match holder. The match holder has its original cardboard matchbox inside, complete with wooden match sticks...VERY cool!

In very good condition, this has never been monogramed and the set is free from damage or repair. It shows minimal wear and is sold in as found condition, unpolished. A fine set for a collector of tobacciana and sterling silver enamelled pieces.
 

COOL ANTIQUE ART DECO CZECH CIGAR TAMPER I've been told this is a cigar tamper, and it appears to have art deco styling and to be made of chrome. It measures about 3 1/8" long and has three parts that swivel from the bottom. The back piece has a lovely Grecian Key design and is marked "MADE IN CZECHOSLAVAKIA" on it.
 

AUTHENTIC ART DECO ERA TIN ASHTRAY w BAKELITE HANDLES From my private collection, cool circa 1920s-30s ashtray made of white metal tin with little butterscotch bakelite art deco handles. Approx. 3 1/4" high and 4 1/4" in diameter. Good vintage condition, functional, though I would simply display it. Top has a flip top for cigarette butts to drop into. Shows age but is overall very nice. There may have been another part at the top as there are 2 little slots around the rim. It does not look incomplete. Sold as found. Nice art deco period piece.
 

ANTIQUE WOODEN COPPER LINED TOBACCO HUMIDOR BOX Early to mid 1900s, possibly mahogany, solid wood, copper lined, approx. 10" wide, 7" deep, 4 1/4" tall.

Fair vintage condition, sold as found, finish is somewhat darkened and has some alligator-ing. Metal plaque on top, part of the front hardware is missing. Could use refinishing or cleaning up. All in all, a very nice piece and could be enjoyed as it is or fixed up. Priced accordingly
 

VINTAGE RONSON ADONIS? VARAFLAME ENGLISH LIGHTER Circa mid 1900s modernist style Ronson Made in England lighter, tortoise style metal finish, approx. 2.5" by 1.5", sold as found, not working but appears to just need a flint and fluid, maybe a little wick type piece too, not too savvy with lighters, but this seems like a cool one. Has a space age look like a rocket.

Sold as is, as found, surface wear, priced accordingly. If perfect in box, these go for over $100.
 

ANTIQUE MINIATURE ROYAL CROWN COLA BOTTLE LIGHTER Approx. 2 3/4" tall, miniature vintage antique Royal Crown Cola (RC Cola) bottle, metal, "Best by Taste-Test", opens but I cannot seem to get it all the way open to show the actual lighter. I assume it is a lighter, and it has the weight to indicate it is not hollow.

Early to mid 1900s, nice advertising piece, good vintage condition.

 

OLD GERMAN PORCELAIN ASHTRAY MONK FRIAR PLAYING VIOLIN Apprx 5 3/4" diameter, early 1900s, stamped on bottom, appears to be "GER"...I assume for Germany. Decal design on top of a monk playing the violin.

Nice ashtray, good vintage condition, minimal and gentle wear, decorative and functional.
 

UNUSUAL VINTAGE PLASTIC BAKELITE INDIAN CHIEF MINI PIPE Apprx 3" long, amber colored mouthpiece that appears to be bakelite, dark orange figural native American Indian chief with headdress makes the bowl. Like new, never used, old, unsure of exact age, guessing 1940s or so. I've had it for about 20 yrs myself in my own collection. Excellent condition.
 

WONDERFUL VINTAGE TELESCOPIC 'SCOPE CIGARETTE HOLDER Nice little 1 1/4" long lidded container with a telescopic cigarette holder in brass with a plastic tip, measures about 2 7/8" long when fully expanded. Appears to date to the mid 1900s, prob. 1930s-40s, maybe 50s. Appears to have never been used. End of capsule container states 'SCOPES PATENT PENDING.

Very good vintage condition.
 

ANTIQUE BRASS ART DECO MATCH SAFE MATCH HOLDER Circa 1920s-40s, brass and red plastic, interesting little logo of a woman and what looks to be some sort of little animal like a lamb, about 2.5" by 1 3/8", hinged spring loaded top, good vintage condition, complete, nice patina, some wear from age, sold as found. RARE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN FIGURAL PIPE WATCH FOB COMPASS CHARM Approx 1 3/4" figural Victorian pipe watch fob compass, very unusual and rare, working compass, great to use as a charm or fob, metal and a carved type of material, possibly wood or seed, circa late 1800s to early 1900s. Excellent condition.
 

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN H&H RETRACTABLE CIGARETTE HOLDER Amber tip, telescoping retractable cigarette holder in small hinged rose gold filled case, stamped "H&H" on the bottom. Has been used, but still intact. Case nearly 7/8" tall. Has a little loop to hang from chain.

Expected wear for its age, good vintage condition, great conversation piece.
 

ANTIQUE JAPAN LUSTRE ELEPHANT ASHTRAY CIGARETTE HOLDER Made in Japan lusterware (lustreware), stamped in black ink and imressed into the bottom, Japanese figural ashtray cigarette holder, about 3.5" high, deep, and wide. From my private collection, whimsical elephant, bright hand painted accents, very good vintage condition.
 

VINTAGE BURL WALNUT 3 PC PIPE Very cool old pipe, wood, 3 piece, about 5" long, age unknown, I have had it for about 10-15 years. minimally used, very good condition.
 

LOVELY ANTIQUE GERMAN AUSTRIAN PORCELAIN TRANSFERWARE P Wonderful pipe from either Austria or Germany. Perhaps considered a piece from the black forest...I am not sure.

Measures about 13 1/2" at its longest when assembled, this European pipe looks to date back to the early 1900s or so. Again, I am only estimating...it sure feels like late Victorian to me. It has a long natural wooden branch-like piece with a curved mouthpiece and a porcelain connector and bowl. The white bowl has a lithographed or transferware design of a German or Austrian cityscape in lovely hues of orange, pink, blue and brown with "ANDENKEN AN WEIN" and "RATHBAU" across the bottom. A metal lid covers the top.

The pipe is a functional piece, most likely, though I've only used it as a display piece. It comes apart, as it is supposed to, though it doesn't stay together without tightly putting it together. A metal lip between the wooden section and the first porcealin piece is loose, but otherwose, the piece is in nice condition with no cracks or repair to the porcelain and no damage or fading to the scene. A splendid piece for the collector of fine Pipes or souvenir memorabilia.
 

RETRO MODERN EAMES ERA ALUMINUM RONSON LIGHTER This is a fun little lighter by Ronson from the space age or atomic age 50s or 60s. It has a nice brushed chrome or aluminum finish with a shiny chrome top. It's marked on the bottom "RONSON" and "MADE IN ENGLAND". The nice little pocket lighter measures a handy 1 3/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall. It is sleekly designed with an almost missle like shape and has a handsome retro design in the center on one side. It shows very little wear, if any, and though it needs fluid, it should work fine as it sparks nicely when you push the top down.

It appears to be complete with a center screw-on piece at the bottom that can be removed for flints and lighter fluid. A terrific gift for the collector of fine tobaccianna!
