Screaming Art Deco Chrome Figural Candy Dish
Just in from a local estate collection exclusively to the internet comes this fabulous art deco treasure. Dating back to the 1930s or 40s, this highly detailed piece measures approximately 9 inches high and 9 1/2" at its widest diameter on the bottom tier.
The dish is made of chrome plating and is beautifully designed. It has two tiers. with the top one being held up by a wonderfully executed ballerina. Great attention was given to make sure that she was realistically portrayed, and not just on one side, but on both. Her facial features are in detail and relief, as is her body, which is clothed in a tutu while she does her pirouette. The frills of her skirt are quite detailed as well.
The tiers of the dish have a nice openworked design with a leaf-like pattern, and the pieces are all held in with flat head screws, one at the top and one on the bottom. The only mark I could find was on the back of her little slippers which is as follows:
REG DESIGN 874837
In excellent condition, the decorative deco piece has minimal wear. The chrome is still bright and intact, though a cleaning is in order, and the pieces are securely attached and original. There doesn't appear to be any pitting to the finish, making this in what I would consider better than average condition. Surely a welcomed addition to the most advanced of collections, why not add this one to your charm braceler or collection today?
Feel free to contact me with questions or concerns regarding this piece, and please check out my other auctions for great stuff: I am constantly listing items including signed costume, Bakelite, Victorian, Nouveau, and Deco pieces, and other collectibles!

RARE ART DECO HENDRYX BIRDCAGE w ORIGINAL STAND
From MY own collection comes this authentic ALL ORIGINAL art deco birdcage WITH its ORIGINAL crescent shaped matching stand. Standing about 68-70" tall, I purchased this at an Atlanta antique market about 20 yrs ago.
The rounded and dome shaped birdcage is painted yellow with green accents. The stand matches the cage and it appears to be all original, never repainted or touched up.
The birdcage itself has a fabulous art deco shape and still has an original milk glass marked Hendryx feeder as well as an art deco clear glass feeder on the other side. It has a spring loaded hinged door with the HENDRYX name embossed on the side.
The birdcage has been displayed in my solarium for years, but with my cats and dogs, a bird is just not in the picture for us! I finally thought, after about 2 decades, that it was time to pass this beauty on! It's in very good condition, expected paint wear as photographed, and some little dings as is common. Nothing detracting or devaluing, in my opinion.

VINTAGE ART DECO FIGURAL WOMEN SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS
Out of my own private collection is this terrific pair of salt and pepper shakers. Made of porcelain, these art deco figurals measure about 4" high and date back to the flapper days of the 1920s or 30s.
The shakers are an off white porcelain and are hand painted with pink and blue flowers and green leaves. The floral decoaration adorns the women's chests as well as the side of one of their heads. They each have a hole on the bottom, though a cork would be needed to actually use them as shakers, and the flowers are a little darker on one of them.
They are unmarked, but I feel sure they are of Japanese origin. They're free of repair and the only damage I could find is a small nick on the end of one of the women's noses. It isn't detracting, in my opinion, though a small bit of touching up could easily repair it if desired. These would be great displayed with other art deco items!

ART DECO COMPACT BIRDSEYE BOX CELLULOID EROTIC SCENE
I have had this in my private collection for over 20 years. It is probably Russian or made in the USSR and it dates to the 1920s or so. Measures about 3 1/8" by 4 1/2" and is a little over 1/2" high.
The little miniature hinged cigarette compact size box appears to be birdseye maple (or maybe burl walnut?). I had one collector assess this as a snuff box, but an expert stated what I had always thought, that it cigarette compact.
The box is ultra rare and unique and boasts what would have been considered erotica in the early 1900s. Hand crafted, the front scenic design is inlay with celluloid and shows an Asian woman peering out from behind a door while a male suitor, while holding his hat in one hand, presents a flower bouquet to her. What makes this even more unique is that when you open the box, the celluloid design continues on the inside of the lid and it shows the scene on the other side of the Chinese or Japanese woman's home. The surprise is that the woman is naked and you see her bare bottom as she discreetly hides her nudity from the gentleman.
This is authentic and being sold as I found it over 2 decades ago. It is in amazingly good condition, excellent vintage condition with very little wear. It's been stored in a smoke free environment.
I've enjoyed this probably more than anything I've ever collected over my 25 year career of buying and selling. I've never seen another like it and can assure the lucky buyer that it is even better in person than on the computer.
No damage, repair, missing sections. When you open the box, the hinge is a little tight, but it doesn't affect the functionality or overall appearance.

ANTIQUE FOLDING WOOD HANDLE MUSTACHE HAIR CURLING IRON
This is a wonderful old rare late Victorian era grooming accessory that I was told is a mustache curler or hair curling iron. It folds up and is metal with reddish stained wooden tapered handles. Folded, it measures about 5 1/2" long, unfolded it's 9 1/8" long. I've seen tons of these with non-folding handles; this is the ONLY one I have ever seen with handles that fold.
In excellent condition, the piece shows oxidation and dirt from the passing of many years. It's complete and original and a fine collectible for anyone who likes authentic barber shop memorabilia or antique hair accessories!

LARGE ANTIQUE BEADED FRENCH GLASS FLOWERS BOUQUET
Unlike any hand beaded flowers I've ever seen, these rare antique beauties have been in my personal collection for several years. Most of the beaded flowers of this genre are of miniature daisy and other such flower types, however, these are done in realistic detail and appear to be nearly life size.
The bouquet consists of 4 large flowers, the longest of which measures about 12" long including its stem.
One of the flowers is a rich red maroon flower with many petals and a yellow center. It appears to be some sort of dalia or mum, I believe.
Another one of the flowers is a strikingly ornate and detailed piece in a lavender pink with what appears to be abought 100 or so loop like petals forming a big ruffled flower that is either a large chrysanthemum or perhaps even a peony (which are blooming right now in my front yard!). It has long narrow green leaves and a long wrapped stem.
The other two flowers are wrapped on a long stem toether. They appear to be some sort of lily, I believe. Each of the flowers boast long narrow curling petals in shades of blue..alternating light blue and periwinkle blue. They each have yellow centers with long green leaves and a thick wrapped stem.
Rare indeed, these are each large enough to display individually, but are still quite lovely bunched together for a colorful and breathtaking bouquet! Flowers like this would sell for $25 to $50 EACH if sold individually, but I decided to sell them as a bunch
