RARE STAR STERLING ENAMEL MEDAL COGNOSCETIS VERITATEM
This is a wonderful old medallion hanging on a regal thick purple ribbon. It is stamped sterling silver and has a gold vermeill wash. There is a stamp above the sterling mark but I cannot decipher it.
The front of the medal has an enamel shield with a Latin phrase taken from John Chapter 8. It says "cognoscetis veritatem" which means, "You will know the truth".
I am not sure what this was given for and when. I welcome any information. The piece is in excellent condition, no damage or repair or enamel loss. It weighs an approximate whopping 33 grams or OVER an ounce!

Purchased in Paris France on a trip to Europe several years ago. Early 1900s, souvenir piece from Lourdes, wonderful hand carved extra long rosary. Similar to the ebony rosaries. Over 70" of carved beads plus an additional 12" long center hanging section with carved cross and crucifix. Excellent vintage condition.

1958 CARVED WOODEN JERUSALEM ILLUSTRATED BIBLE
Printed in Great Britain but made as a souvenir of Jerusalem. Apprx 6" by 4".
Lovely wood with a carved Jerusalem cross on the front and JERUSALEM on the back. Contains the old and new testaments. Lovely color illustrations all throughout. Gold leaf on the edges on the pages.
Beautiful bible, compact and portable. Binding is loose and repairable, otherwise in good condition, nice collectible.

UNUSUAL ANTIQUE FRENCH CELLULOID RELIGIOUS SCENE STATUE
Apprx 3 3/8" high by 3 1/8" wide. Antique celluloid circa late 1800s, early 1900s. Marbelized blue swirl celluloid with a cream base. Purchased when I was in France a few years ago. Dark metal scene in a raised relief, appears to be Virgin Mary Mother Mary Madonna. Unsure of metal, probably some sort of base material, not brass or bronze.
Good vintage condition with one chip out of the back rear right corner. Great conversation piece.

SUPERB ANTIQUE BRONZE JESUS STATUE CROWN of THORNS
Apprx 5" high, I bought it exactly how it is, lovely old patina, no polishing. May have come off of a larger piece judging from the bottom.
Jesus is well detailed, wearing a crown of thorns, lovely bust depiction of Jesus.
Excellent condition. Heavy weight for its size, circa early 1900s, perhaps earlier?

ANTIQUE MINIATURE CARVING RELIGIOUS JESUS STONE PLAQUE
Apprx 2 1/4" by nearly 2" wide, appears to be a stone of some sort, really not sure. Raised relief of Jesus. Came out of an estate years ago that was full of authentic antiquities. It's been in my collection for over 20 years.
Feels cold to the touch like real stone. When I look at this under a loop, it looks as if it has been hand carved, though I know there are probably very good quality molded plaques that can have this look.
Very good condition w/ only a little nick off the back, unseen from the front.
Circa early to mid 1900s, possbily even earier.

VINTAGE JAPANESE PORCELAIN SAINT LAZARUS FIGURINE
Measuring approximately 8" high, I estimate this to be at least from the 1940s or 50s.
The lovely piece is a figural porcelain statue of Saint Lazarus, or as on the front of this piece, "SAN LAZARO". It has its original label on the bottom which says "SANMYRO JAPAN". The attention to detail is excellent! Hand painted in muted tones, the figurine depicts the martyr, Lazarus (I bought this from an Episcopalian proest who explained that this is NOT Mary Magdellen's son, but rather the Lazarus from a different bible parable). He stands with a crutch and sores over his body, and at his feet are two dogs.
In excellent condition, this great piece makes quite a terrific display. Free of any damage or repair whatsover, it is original and as detailed on the back as it is on the front.

RARE ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER 1925 ETCHED KIDDUSH CUP
Apprx 2 1/8" tall, top diameter is also about 2 1/8". Stamped and hallmarked, sterling silver, M.C.84.
Little cup is hand etched with Hebrew lettering, it is worn down from age but no dings or dents. I can make out a faint tching of a date of what appears to be 1927. Weighs apprx 37 grams.
I have saved this for about 20 yrs, and I bought it from an estate of the original owners. It has never been offered for sale before.
Lovely and rare piece of Judaica, very nice Jewish design. Good vintage condition, some tarnish, warm unpolished patina.

VINTAGE ORAL ROBERTS UNIV RELIGIOUS SAYINGS BOOKLET
Apprx 1 3/4" by 1" rectangular silvertone miniature booklet. Brass medallion of Oral Roberts on the front stating EXPECT A MIRACLE. Brass medal on the back shows a raised relief of the Prayer Tower at Oral Roberts University with a phone number.
Inside, small plastic pieces of paper with religious and inspirational biblical sayings on them.
Good vintage condition, some handwriting on some of the papers, otherwise, near perfect.

DECO ALABASTER BRONZE DESVERONES MADONNA JESUS PLAQUE
Purchased when I was in France a few years ago, art deco era antique religious statue or plaque. Circa 1920s, maybe even a little earlier. Brass backing so it can be hung or set on a shelf or mantle. Apprx 8" by 6 3/8".
Rich green natural real alabaster swirl arched plaque set with a bronze medallion in the center. Medallion is signed DESVERONES and is a raised relief design of the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus. Lovely Madonna and Child.
This was perfect...I wrapped it carefully and placed it in my luggage...and somehow, between the airport in Amsterdam and in Atlanta, the alabaster was cracked. The good news is that it really is hard to tell and is still lovely. The bad news is that it happened and it is devalued as a result.
So, with its blemish revealed, it is otherwise a nice bronze and alabaster statue and would be a terrific decorative item for any collector of religious memorabilia.
Regarding the artist: DESVERONES
Desverones was a French sculptor, I believe his full name was Charles Desverones and that he was a well known artist in the 1910s.
