This is a beautiful Pill Box or Mini Powder Compact that looks to date to the early to mid 1900s. It's a splendid and old enamel piece with a detailed and pretty country scene of lovers in a Renaissance Revival style. It's pink with minimal wear on the back to the pink, but the miniature scenic enamel is perfect. What makes this so different and wonderful is the hand painted three dimensional effect of the design. I'd bet that this center piece is actually enamel on copper, but I cannot be 100% sure. With a definite Victorian style, I believe this would date to the art deco or Edwardian era. In very good condition with a great clasp, it measures 1 1/2" in diameter...splendid! |
