This is a very cool late 19th century to early 20th century souvenir brooch from somewhere in Europe. Probably Germany, I believe, as the word "ANDENKEN" is most likely German.
It is heavily carved and appears to be ivory...I may be wrong and it's bone...either way, it is skillfully carved and very old. It is a carved flower, a rose, I think, and it has lovely openwork that looks like lace or filigree.
The brooch is in fair condition, due to some damage to the end of the word. It still wears nicely, and it is all original with brass findings and an old "C" clasp. I've reduced the price to account for its damage, but it is still a fine piece of Victoriana. |
