Size: 10 mm (3/8") wide and 8" in circumference
This is a fabulous authentic VICTORIAN period Chinese bracelet just purchased as part of an incredible estate. Dating back to the 1880s or earlier, the ornate jewel measures about 10 mm (3/8") wide and 8" in circumference. It would fit a small to medium woman's wrist with ease.
Hallmarked with a Chinese character maker's mark, the bangle is open to allow some adjustment. An intricate raised design encircles the piece which is a nice heavy weight for its size. The geometric design repeats itself with swirls and (I think) the Asian good luck symbols or a variation thereof. It is not a stamped out design, as the inside of it is smooth.
With splendid patina, this may very well be over 100 years of oxidation...I would not polish it personally, but I'll leave that up to you. In excellent condition, it's free of damage or repair and is ready to wear. Retail on a piece of this calibre would be in excess of $250 to $300. |
