This is a wonderful old medallion hanging on a regal thick purple ribbon. It is stamped sterling silver and has a gold vermeill wash. There is a stamp above the sterling mark but I cannot decipher it.
The front of the medal has an enamel shield with a Latin phrase taken from John Chapter 8. It says "cognoscetis veritatem" which means, "You will know the truth".
I am not sure what this was given for and when. I welcome any information. The piece is in excellent condition, no damage or repair or enamel loss. It weighs an approximate whopping 33 grams or OVER an ounce! |
