This is a nice old late 1800s to early 1900s Victorian to Edwardian era bar pin. It is brass with a gold filled or gold wash and it has a delicate openworked design. In the center is a small hand carved hardstone cameo...I believe this is considered either sardonyx or carnelian...I'm not sure. It is white with a lavender, then cornelian color stone. It appear to be carved from one piece of stone, NOT two that have been glued on like some. It is not highly detailed, but it looks nice when worn and is a nice miniature.
In good condition, this shows expected wear, but it is free of damage or repair. It's original with a "C" clasp and nice style. A wearable and collectible Victorian bar pin this can be worn as a lapel pin or barpin brooch by men or women. |
