This is a magnificient piece of vintage Hawaiiana that appears to be from the art deco era..though I am unsure of its exact age. It measures approximately 8 1/2" long and is made of wonderfully woven natural straw or wicker type links with hand carved and painted wooden pineapples and leaves dangling from it. Each realistically depicted fruit and leaf measures an ample 1 1/4" long. A carved hook made of either tortoise COLORED celluloid or horn attatches to the end woven link. It appears to be hand carved as well.
In amazingly well perserved condition, this is as mint as I've ever seen! All original, in EXCELLENT condition, this fruity treasure would compliment any collection of wooden jewelry as well as figural bakelite pieces. The paint is vibrant and unfaded, and the wood is unchipped and skillfully cut. A handsome piece; a wonderful find! |
