I just bought an incredible collection of AUTHENTIC Victorian and antique jewels and collectibles from an Atlanta estate from the heir of the original owner. Included in this special find are unusal Victorian lockets, a gutta percha chain and large locket, some braided hair and mourning pieces, an ivory pikake flower necklace, a TRUE micromosaic pendant locket with hair in it, plus some old Siam silver and other great treasures. This is a fine example of a true piece of Victoriana! The photo locket measures about 1 3/8" in diameter with a 5/8" bale. It dates to about the 188os and is hand etched on both sides with a great etching of a house on one side and a shield on the other. It's unmarked gold filled.
Opening on a hinge with a push button, a photo of a little girl is inside with a glass frame insert on one side. The locket is made in the same style as a hunter's case for a pocketwatch.
In good condition, the locket shows some wear, but nothing detracting or devaluing in my opinion. Minimal wear, lovely to hang on a chain or display and collect! NO RESERVE!
