From a local estate, this Guerin Luneville antique plate is estimated to date to the late 1800s. Perfect for the collector of fine English and French art pottery, ceramics and porcelain, this plate measures about 8.5" in diameter and is clearly marked on the back "K & G Luneville Depose France". There is also an imprint of an "R" and a small wire to hang it on the wall.
It appears to be handpainted in enamel and signed by the artist Obert, though I am unsure if this is made in a factory or sent to the individual artist. The design is superb with a realistic cluster of peaches, each peach in realistic detail in rich yellow and unber hues against a teal and green background.
In very good condition, this Victorian era decorative plate has a small nick on the edge and some factory imperfections as would not only be expected but desired. It has a small nick on the back where it touches the wall. None of the apologies detract from this piece whatsover in my opinion. It is a fine piece and a must for any collection. |
