From a local estate comes this terrific Royal Bayreuth vase. Measuring approximately 5" by 4 1/4", I am not sure of its exact date, though I estimate it to be at least from the 1920s or 30s.
The charming porcelain vase is beautifully styled in an urn shaped design. It's marked on the bottom as follows:
Royal Bayreuth
Underneath the maker's name is a "P" and a "T" each in a shield.
On one side of the vase is a beautiful scene of a Victorian woman. She's quite lovely wearing her large pre Gibson Girl styled hat and rust colored dress with a white shawl. She's holding a fan and standing in a filed of pastel colored flowers and ferns with an incredible yellow sunset in the horizon. The backside of the vase simply has a lavendar fading into a beige background.
Please bear with my pictures as it was hard to truly capture the essense of this highly collectible piece.
The vase is what I would consider near mint...no damage, no repair. The lovely soft decorations are intact and unfaded, with no apparent wear other than the most minor scratching of the finish where the woman's hair is on her shoulder. I've included a view to illustrate this tiny flaw, which, in my opinion, does not detract fromthe overall look and beauty of this charming find. Surely a welcomed addition to the most advanced of collections, why not add this one to yours today? |
