These beads appears to be from the 1920s or 30s and are heavy carnelian colored glass. I was told that they are Peking glass, though I am honestly not exactly sure what would be the criteria and identification method to be definitive about that assessment.
The beads were professionally restrung on matching silk cord and knotted a few years ago and have been in my private collection.
They measure about 36" long and are slightly graduated. The largest beads are about 20mm to 22.2mm wide. There is no clasp as these are meant to go over the head.
The beads have subtle swirls and little bubbles and imperfections which add to their uniqueness and charm.
Superb condition with minimal and gentle wear only. |
