This fine authentic Art Nouveau Arts & Crafts era period piece dates to the late 1800s to early 1900s. Measuring approximately 2.75" in diameter, the sash buckle is silver over either brass or bronze. It has a lovely hand crafted open work design with 2 cabachon green glass stones each set into the sides. On the back is a hallmark by the artist or maker, and while I am unsure of its exact origin, one jeweler told me it was similar to the stamp of Marius Hammer. I am not sure and welcome information you may care to share on this mark. The mark appears to be variation of a cross or arrow of some sort. Any clues?
In original condition, this fine piece is ready to use as a buckle or ornament, and it would also be a great scarf slide with a multitude of possibilities. No damage or repair and minimal wear. |
