Exclusively from a private collection exclusively to the internet comes this delicate estate piece. Measuring approximately 1 3/4" across and 1 1/4" high, this butterfly appears to be contemporary and from the last 20 or 30 years.
The piece doubles as both a brooch or a pendant. It's exquisitely designed in a lovely openworked filligree style and is in 14K yellow gold (tested and guaranteed; couldn't find the mark) The wings are speckled with lovely channel set genuine rubies...about 34 that I could see. Also adorning the piece are 6 diamond begets (estimated approx. 3 or 4 points each...ONLY AN ESTIMATE) and 8 small round faceted diamonds that are about 3 or 4 points each (again...AN ESTIMATE). In the center is a nice sized diamond that is irregularly shaped and about half carat (50 points). It is not a high quality stone, but it is very lovely and firery in the piece.
The piece can be worn as a brooch, but a ring is also present to wear on a chain. The pin has lovely openwork over the entire piece, giving it an airy quality...a VERY attractive piece!
In excellent condition, the figural treasure is all original with secure stones and a functional safety clasp. I inspected it carefully and all I could see is that one small ruby is missing...easily replaced, inexpensive, and not at all noticeable if you left it as is. Surely a welcomed addition to the most advanced of collections, why not add this one to your cache of butterflies today? |
