This is a fabulous authentic estate piece dating to the early 1900s. The desireable stickpin tests to be at least 10K yellow gold, though it may actually be 12K gold. It's beautifully styled with characteristics of several periods including Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco. I'd classify this as a transition piece.
The actual top of the stickpin measures approximately 3/4" long, and the total length of the pin, including its shank (which I didn't photograph in its entirety) is a tad over 2 3/8" long.
The pin would look great for both men or women, to be worn on a lapel, a tie or ascot, or even on a hat. The curved lines are classic, and set into the gold is a round faceted blue stone that appears to be a genuine sapphire, complete with an open back or breather. This does NOT appear to be a synthetic, though I have not tested it.
