This is a very nice estate piece recently purchased as part of a collection of fine Victorian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Edwardian period stick pins and other accessories. Please check out my other auctions.
Victorian era of the late 1800s. It's either a 10K gold or a nice gold filled metal and measures about 2 1/4" long including the 1/2" cherub top. I am pricing this as a gold filled piece, NOT carat gold.
The figural cherub (angel, putti, cherubic) is nicely detailed with facial features and feathered wings. I am not sure exactly what the enameled section was to represent or if it is missing a part. It may be a flower or bird or butterfly (bumblebee maybe?) Regardless, the rare piece is a very attractive period find. It has a nice finish, exquisite style and, despite the fact that it is not perfect, it is ready to wear on a lapel or tie or display on a pincushion. |
