Early 1900s, late Victorian early edwadian figural bow barpin brooch. Rose gold setting, unmarked but guaranteed to be at least 10K if not 14K. Measures about 2 3/8" across and about 5/8" at its widest point. Total weight apprx 8 grams.
Genuine diamond in the center, tested and guaranteed. It measures about 3.6mm in diameter and appears to be an old European cut and has excellent clarity and color. I'd estimate it to be apprx .10 carats.
The brooch is comprised of a gold mounting, and carved mother of pearl plate which covers it, and hundreds of tiny hand strung seed pearls covering the mother of pearl. The diamond is set into the center. This was NOT a mass produced item and it was probably a handmade one-of-a-kind creation.
This is a piece that should either be restored or used to make other jewelry. While beautiful, as you can see from my photos, it is missing seed pearls and one section has become detached as shown.
An amazing and unique piece to restore or a bargain for a jewelry designer as a source of several newly created treasures, this is being sold as found. Seed pearls like this can wholesale for anywhere from 50 cents to $1 or more each, so when you add the value of the pearls, gold and diamonds, you couldn't buy them for the price I am offering.
This has never been online before.
