Fron my own collection comes this magnificent early pair of long dangling earrings. Unmarked, they are silver, I'd guess 800 silver rather than sterling silver...guaranteed NOT plated. A tad over 2" long each, the dangles date to the early 1900s.
The earrings are hand made silver filigree on an ornate openwork filagree design. Intricate and lovely, they have a strong Victorian influence with lovely wirework and a floral motif. Each flower (flowers) comes out in a 3D miniature design.
In EXCELLENT condition, each earring has a rich patina and is sold AS FOUND, UNpolished. They are all original with nice functional screw backs, each adorned with filigree work. These would be simple to adapt to pierced, if you desired, but the fact that they are all original and nice early pieces would tempt me to leave them as they are.
Probably of mid eastern origin (Israel Israeli Iran Iranian Persia Persian Afghan Afghanistan), these are lovely works of art that would compliment any collection of antique fillagree (filligree filigree). |
