Another rarity from my own collection, this authentic 1940s era designer hat has a designer tag by "Alice May Fifth Ave New York". It is about 13 3/4" from front to back and 13 1/2" from side to side. The brim is 5" wide at the front and tapers, narrowing towards the back to about 2".
The hat is meant to be worn at the crown of the head with a thin elastic band to hold it secure to your head. The circumference of the inside is about 21".
In great condition, the straw is perfect with no damage or repair. The straw is, however, faded, the original red color showing on the underside. Still, it is awesome. it has a pale velvet ribbon hatband tied into a bow at the back, also faded from the years. Full of character and charm., this designer New York hat was a pricey accessory in its time and would be to great to wear and display! |
