| Heavy and rare sterling silver 1893 Chicago World's Fair Columbian Exposition souvenir spoon. Measures about 5 5/8" long. Has a full figure art nouveau woman in flowing dress on the handle in raised relief. Exquisite detail! Expected wear and in great condition. Ornately decorated on front and back. Back says "World's Columbian Exposition 1893". Stamped "STERLING" with a hallmark near the base of the bowl on the back of a "D" in Old english script. I welcome any information on thi maker. When I researched this spoon, the closest one I found sold for $1000 recently and was by Sheibler. I don't know if this is a spoon of that calibre or not and would love to learn more! |
