Circa early to mid 1900s, silver tone chain and pendant locket style medallion, lovely style, Victorian, art nouveau revival. Pendant is about 2" long including its lovely Victorian styled bale and 1 1/8" wide. The chain is about 34' long and stamped gold filled on the bale.
While this does not open as a locket would, it has the look of an onyx locket that would have dated to the 1880s or so. The repousse raised design is superb and the quality is impressive. As for the oval black stone, I would guess that it is synthetic and is glass, not actual onyx.
The necklace is in very good condition, free of damage or repair. Lovely piece that would compliment fine jewelry as well.
