This came from an estate years ago and has been in my own collection ever since. I really am a bit perplexed as to its purpose. It is about 1 1/8" by 1" and appears to be ceramic set in a little cardboard border. I was told it was Victorian and dates to the late 1800s.
I am selling this as found and it is white with some soiling from age. Depicted is a full length neoclassic or Grecian Roman (Greco-Roman) woman with diaphanous fabric draped over her. This may actually have been a mold or form for intaglio production.
Good vintage condition, as is, minimal chipping on the edge though nice and unusual. |
