Perfect "sojourner" as last word on p, 176. It is very good overall. It is bound in medium green cloth, with gold and black lettering/designs on the front and spine. These are bright and shiny. The end papers are tan and gray. The top and bottom of the spine are lightly frayed and there is very minor shelf wear to the bottom. A former owner’s pen and ink signature and date is on the front flyleaf. It is an attractive first edition copy of Howell’s account of the fall and redemption of an American businessman. Howell’s masterpiece and an American classic. Pre-page before introduction is a compilation like ad highlighting Mr. Howell’s Novels, comedies and plays. All pages are perfectly intact and spine is in excellent condition. Story itself is 515 pages long; page size is 7-3/8" x 4-5/8" and cover is 7-3/4" x 5".
