Each pattern is photographed in both color and black and white, with a clear chart showing stitch type, placement, and color.
The designs are grouped into 10 historical eras: Minoans, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Near East, Greece and Rome, Byzantine Empire, Middle Ages, Islam, Renaissance, 17th to 19th Century Europe, American Folk Art.

Dust jacket has some wear and small tears at upper and lower edges but has done its job of protecting the book.
