5319

Art Nouveau Spelter Wall Candle Sconce A beautiful single Victorian candle sconce in heavy spelter metal from the Art Nouveau era. It's 15 inches tall, depth from the wall to the candle bobeche is 8-1/2". At some point it was painted white, but the original finish appears to have been gilded. The narrow sconce has a lady's face in high relief at the center focal point, the candle cup is ornately engraved with floral motifs. There is some natural age wear to the paint as shown but the new owner may wish to completely strip it and restore the original finish. There are no breaks or repairs to the metal.

Circa: 1900

Butterflies Cloisonne Pin Tray or Dresser Dish This pretty, old cloisonne dresser tray or pin dish is oval shaped, 4-1/4" by 3-1/4" diameter. The design features six colorful butterflies in pink, blue, green and white on a deep cobalt background with a blue and green scalloped border. The underside is enameled solid green. This is an old piece of cloisonne, unmarked. There is a bit of very light, faint age pitting but no chips to the top side. The bottom has some minor edge chipping to the enamel around the brass rim. The dish does need light cleaning but I wasn't sure what to use so I left it alone.

Circa: 1910s - 1930s

6829

Sears Roebuck Gold Bond and Freeman Shoes Metal Advertising Shoe Horns The first of these two vintage steel advertising shoe horns is 3-5/8" long with a shiny chrome finish. Engraved on the front is the phrase "It's a Freeman Shoe". Very good condition.

The other shoe horn is 3-7/8" long. The lettering on this one is old fashioned and stylized, the finish is darker, not as shiny - I'm not sure if it's chrome or not. The phrase reads "Gold Bond Shoes, Sears Roebuck And Co.". There are some small oxidation spots on the back, nothing major.

6753

Arts and Crafts Solid Copper Crumb Sweeper Set Solid copper crumb sweeper scoops measure 8" wide by 7 1/4" and 7 1/4" wide by 5-1/2". Both dust pan shaped pieces have a square cut out windows pattern on the handle and round concentric circles in the middle. Holes at the top allow you to hang when not in use. This unsigned matching Arts and Crafts set was made between 1890 and 1915.

The sweepers are in good vintage condition for their age, a few minor dimples and marks to the heavy but soft copper. They've been cleaned at some point in the not too distant past but are in the process of redeveloping patina.

Circa: 1890 - 1915

6755

Benedict Studios Arts & Crafts Bronze 7 Piece Desk Set This early 1900s art metal cast bronze desk set was made by Benedict Art Studios. The set includes an inkwell, stamp box, rocker style ink blotter, and four desk blotter corners, all with the same matching raised and gold gilt period decoration.

The 3-1/8" tall ink well with front pen rest base has no insert. The 3" by 2" by 1-1/2" high stamp box has a partially detached hinge on one side but the lid is still attached and does close - there is no effect when viewed from the front. The lid has some thin scratches. The blotter is 4-3/4" long by 2-3/8" wide. The four triangular blotter corner pieces are 4-1/4" wide by 2-1/8" high.

The underside of the inkwell has the Benedict bee mark as shown. The other pieces are not marked. Except as noted above, the condition is very good, with even warm brown copper coloring and typical but not excessive age wear.

Circa: 1908 - 1920

3330

Antique Primitive Hammered Copper Water Kettle This primitive hammered copper water or tea kettle is close to 200 years old - produced in the first half of the 1800s, probably in Northern Europe - Sweden, Norway, Finland or Denmark. It's very heavy, solid copper with a bronze handle, and completely hand made. It has numerous dents and dings, but the only glaring dent is to the base of the gooseneck spout. The spout has been repaired where it joins to the body - more than once, from the looks of it.

The inside is unlined and not suitable for use, but the original strainer piece is still inside the base of the spout, indicating that it was made and used as a real water kettle, not a decorative piece. The style of lid finial and the way the handle is attached are indicative of Scandinavian origin. The kettle is just over 8" wide from the spout to the opposite side, and about that high with the handle in the raised position.

Circa: 1850
