Rest assured that after years of buying, selling, and collecting vintage ornaments, I have learned how to pack them safely. I know how heartbreaking it can be to hear that awful tinkling when your package arrives and find nothing but shards inside. Your purchases will be carefully packed with no skimping on materials to survive just about any drop, kick or fall the postal service can dish out. |

Box Shiny Brite Small Figural And Shapes Glass Christmas Ornaments
One dozen smaller or feather tree size vintage Shiny Brite glass Christmas ornaments, all figural or specialty shapes, produced from the 1930s to mid 1950s. The colors are shades of green, pink, and magenta.
There are two different styles of bells, both striped, and three figural grape cluster ornaments. Two ornaments are twisted ovals, one in dark green, almost blue-green, the other is light green. Three ornaments are ringed Art Deco style lanterns, one solid pink, the other two are green and magenta pink with painted colored stripes. One ornament is the scarce Shiny Brite ice cream cone shape in bright magenta pink, another is a ribbed or ringed Oriental style lantern in a bit lighter shade of pink.
Circa: 1930s - 1950s

Box Mr. Christmas Fancy Yellow Flower Indent Glass Christmas Ornaments
Three very beautiful 1960s Christmas ornaments with daisy or sunflower center indents, still in their original Mr. Christmas box, made in East Germany. The ornaments are quite large, 3" diameter by about 3-3/4" high to the tops of the caps. The yellow and silver backs have a deeply textured orange peel effect, the centers have deep sunflower or daisy reflector indents in brilliant yellow gold and red. As if they still weren't pretty enough, there is white mica glitter at the openings - worn on two ornaments, but it's really doesn't matter - that's not where your eyes are drawn.
One ornament still has it's silvering, the other two have some loss of the inner mercury, mainly to the top halves. It happens to most old ornaments with real silvering sooner or later and is normal and expected. Otherwise the ornaments are perfect and undamaged. The box is in excellent condition, I see no damage or wear at all other than very minimal discoloration from age and storage. The metal caps are marked Germany East, as is the box. The zip code on the box dates the set to 1963 or later.

Box 12 Fancy Shiny Brite Mica Indent Glass Christmas Ornaments
All but one of these twelve vintage Shiny Brite glass Christmas ornaments are double indents, and all but two are decorated with colored and white mica trim. The ornaments all date to the 1950s or earlier. There are three large indented ornaments, 3" diameter - two are solid hot pink, one has blue and white mica stripes and pink tinted centers.
Three indents are medium size, about 2-1/2", while three others are a little smaller at 2" diameter. There are two teardrop shape double indents, 3-3/4" and 3-1/2" long, and one single round ornament with a center dark red stripe surrounded by bands of white mica glitter.
The two hot pink have some spotting and scratches to the color, the others are all in remarkably good condition for their age with good color, strong mica application, and no significant wear. All have original Shiny Brite metal caps. The 1940s period box has taped lid flaps and the word "Dec" on the lid, otherwise in reasonably good condition for its age.

Box 5 Poland Blue Glass Long Ribbed Teardrop Christmas Ornaments
Five blown glass Polish long ribbed teardrop or icicle ornaments in metallic blue, still in their original box (which originally held six ornaments). They range from 5-1/2" to 6" long and are shabby in an attractive, antique manner with remnants of old snow flocking and age wear to the silvering and blue finish. The metal caps say Poland and are intact but somewhat rusty. The ornaments originally had vertical mica stripes on the ridges but most has worn away from age and handling. There are no chips or breaks. The box is intact and in good condition but is missing the cellophane window covering.

Box of 1940s Japan Unsilvered Transparent Glass Christmas Ornaments
I have never seen a box of unsilvered ornaments from Japan before. I'm certain they were made just after World War II and were probably among the first post-war Christmas imports. Ornament manufacturers in Japan and Europe surely faced problems similar to US makers in obtaining silvering agents during and just after the war.
There are 11 thin glass ornaments just over 2" diameter, all but two with little round paper Made In Japan labels. They're decorated in solid transparent colors of yellow, green, cobalt and light blue, gold and red. There is one non-matching replacement ornament in the box, put there just to make an even dozen. The metal caps are obviously replacements, all marked differently with different countries of origin. it's likely the ornaments originally came with paper or cardboard hangers that were removed.
The colors are even and the ornaments are in good condition, just a little dust on them is all. The plain box is marked Japan and does not have a lid. If you're a collector of American war ornaments, this rare and unusual Japanese set would complement your collection nicely.

Box 12 Premier Unsilvered WWII Striped Bells Christmas War Ornaments
This set of unsilvered figural glass bell Christmas ornaments by Premier Glass Works is a rare find. They were made in the 1940s during World War II when silver nitrate was only available for military use, so American ornament manufacturers had to use transparent flashed and painted colors.
The twelve bells are 2-1/4" to 2-5/8" high. Five are solid colors with thin painted white and yellow rings at the centers - one red, two green, and two blue. The other seven ornaments have wide transparent colored center bands with opaque painted stripes above and below, mostly red and yellow, a couple in white and blue with red centers. The unsilvered finishes used during this time period are subject to considerable wear but these ornaments are all in terrific condition, only one, the largest bell, has noticeable paint wear to the red bands and green flashed center. The ornaments have no chips or breaks, many still have the cotton string hanging cords attached by the original owner. The Premier Glass Works box bottom is in good condition. There is no box lid.
American war ornaments were only produced for two or three years and are by their very nature scarce and finite in quantity (as soon as the war ended the manufacturers went back to producing silvered ornaments). They are highly collected today and will only increase in value as their numbers dwindle from loss, breakage, and absorption into private collections.
Circa: 1942 - 1945

Peacock Blue West German Christmas Ornaments with Retro Lightning Slash Decoration
Five retro Mid-Century peacock blue glass Christmas ornaments, decorated with painted white and silver glitter lightning-like slash lines. Since the box only had five, I added a blue blown glass Poland ornament in a similar color to fill out the box.
The ornaments are nearly 3" diameter and have plastic caps that say W. Germany (one has a metal cap which is no doubt a replacement). They're all in very good condition with little wear from age or handling. The box reads "Penneys Christmas Decorations, Hand Crafted in West Germany". The box lid has some small tears at the cutout-window opening and is missing the cellophane but is intact.
