Chase Brass and Copper Candy Dish with Glass Insert
This covered candy dish was made by Chase Copper & Brass Company and is shown in the Chase chapter of the book Art Deco Chrome by Jim Linz. It has a copper base, glass 3-section insert dish, and a brass ringed lid with copper plated fruit cluster finial or handle. The copper base measures 6-3/4" diameter, the glass dish is about 5-1/4" diameter. The brass lid must not have been lacquered - as you can see it has developed much more of a patina than has the copper.
The copper base has a little bit of tarnish and lacquer wear. Also just a hint of unevenness at the outside rim, where it was once bumped or dinged and then straightened out again. The glass insert has no chips or damage.
Circa: 1930s
