Chased Copper Mayan Aztec Calendar Plate or Charger This solid copper charger or wall plate has a hand chased Aztec calendar design tooled in high relief in the center. It measures 11" diameter and has a ring hanger on the back. There are no marks as to maker or origin that I can find. Upon close examination you can see three slight bends or bumps to the rim area of the soft copper. The patina is a little uneven as shown.

Circa: 1950s - 1960s

Solid Copper Charger Wall Plate With Republic of Chile Coat of Arms This vintage hand wrought copper charger or wall plate is embossed in the center with a replica of the Chilean Coat of Arms and the words Republica de Chile. It has a scalloped and hammered double rim and is 11-1/2" diameter. A hanging hook is attached to the back. The copper center has a few minor dings and the rim has one minor ding at the 8 o'clock position as shown, overall good condition and displays well.

4519

Craftsman Studios Copper Tray with Desert Cactus Scene Beautiful 1920s copper serving tray by Craftsman Studios of Laguna Beach California, 11-1/2" diameter not including the raised handles. In the center is a stylized Western desert scene of cactus, sagebrush, mountains and sun in a triangle. Someone polished the tray long ago - you can see the white polish residue in the tool mark seams of the design, but it's re-developing a warm patina. There are no scratches or dings, the tray is in very good condition. Marked with the hammer and anvil logo "Craftsman Studios, Hand Made at Laguna Beach, Calif." and numbered 901.

6436

English Copper Individual Aspic Molds Snake Handles I believe these unusual little silvered copper dishes are individual aspic or food molds. They're 3-1/2" diameter by about 3/4" deep, with deeply embossed designs vaguely reminiscent of the sea. Each has an applied loop handle in the form of a long snake.

The molds are copper but were once tinned on the inside, silverplated on the bottoms. Most of the silverplating is still present but the inner tinning is all but gone. They are stamped Made In England. Surprisingly heavy for their size. Price is for the pair.

Circa: 1900 - 1920

7061

2 Hammered Copper and Brass Aztec Design Mugs A pair of Mid Century Mexican hammered copper large mugs with brass handles, riveted brass bands and a brass Aztec calendar medallion high relief on each. They are 4-1/4" high by 3-1/4" diameter at the rims. The inside is plated with a silver colored metal which is slightly worn near the rims. The bottoms are marked with the initials RZS and Hecho en Mexico. The copper is thick and heavy, the handles and trim securely applied. One mug has a little more patina than the other, a quick polish with copper cream would even out the color. Price is for the pair but I'll sell them separately at $20 each if you only want one.
Circa: 1960s

7462

Swedish Copper 3 Legged Tea Kettle with Original Label This vintage hammered copper hearth tea kettle was made in Sweden in the 1950s or 1960s. It stands over 9" tall to the top of the lid finial and measures 10" across to the tip of the handle. The body is about 5-1/2" diameter. The spade iron legs and heart base handle are applied with copper rivets.

The spotless interior is tinned, and is still bright and shiny, quite likely never used. The outside finish is clean and shiny too with no scratches or dings. The underside still has its original foil label marked Svensk Made in Sweden.

Circa: 1960

6439

Dollhouse Miniature Solid Copper Cooking Pot and Skillet by Peerage England Two pieces of vintage, excellent quality English solid copper miniature or dollhouse cookware. The stock pot has brass handles and is 1-1/4" deep to the rim by 2-1/4" diameter. The fry pan or skillet is 2-1/2" diameter by 5-3/8" long to the end of the long brass handle. The pieces are heavy for their size, very well constructed and not at all flimsy or cheap-toy looking. The pot is marked Peerage Made in England on the bottom, the skillet has the same wording on the back of the handle. I have not cleaned or polished the pieces as I didn't want to affect the nice patina.

6598

Turkish Copper Ebelskiver Baking Pan If this primitive looking copper baking vessel had been made in Europe, it would be called an ebelskiver. I'm not sure what they call it in Turkey. It measures a big 14" diameter by 2-5/8" deep and has 13 round depressions in the bottom ostensibly for dumplings, popovers, or rolls. No one would use this pan for cooking of course, its modern day function is purely decorative.

The pan is vintage but not antique - I'd say 35 to 40 years old, maybe less. The importers of these primitive style Turkish copper pieces often claim they're antiques, dug up by peasants who scrape off the dirt and add handles or hangers, but I'm sure most were just manufactured to look old. At least the maker of this one applied a paper label to the side reading "Turkart Handmade in Turkey". The only flaw aside from the ones that are supposed to be there is a square spot of old label glue at the lower bottom.

Circa: 1960s - 1970s
Country of Origin: TR
Manufacturer: Turkart

4367

Persian Islamic Copper Covered Dish or Pot This old covered copper dish or pot has a hand chased organic design on the sides and lid which is probably Persian. The two cast metal handles are not brass, nor are they iron - they appear to be some sort of bronze alloy. The inside is lined in either tin or zinc, but I would be wary of cooking or serving food in the pot. It's 4" high to the top of the lid, just over 2" deep to the rim, and about 6-3/4" diameter not including the handles. Unsigned of course, age undetermined but probably not later than 1930s.

4294

Childs Toy Copper 4 Piece Turkish Coffee Set A child size Turkish Coffee set in solid copper for play or display. I purchased the set used at a flea market in Seattle in the 1980s and was never sure if it was just a decorative item or actually produced as a toy, nor if the pieces actually belong together or were a marriage. I assume it dates to the 1970s or late 1960s though it may be older.

The set includes a 7" diameter embossed tray, a 2-1/8" deep wooden-handled Ibrik pot with pour spout , an unhandled 1-3/4" high cup, and a 3-3/4" saucer. All of the pieces are solid but light weight copper, with only the handled pot being tin lined. The tray has a few minor dings due to the softness of the copper, but otherwise the set is in very good condition. None of the pieces are marked but I believe it was made in India.

7291

Folk Art Dancing Couples Antique Repousse Copper Bowl A lovely hand wrought copper bowl from the late Victorian or early Arts and Crafts era, 1890s to early 1900s, quite possibly made in Europe or one of the Scandinavian countries. The 7-1/2" diameter bowl has a pedestal base, crimped rim, and hand beaten background. Inside the bowl around the sides are three different repousse images of couples dressed in folk art costumes embossed in high relief. The couples appear to be dancing or courting.

The bottom and outside of the bowl have a silver plating, the inside is unplated - pure copper with original dark patina. It's in beautiful, unpolished and uncleaned condition with no dents, dings, or scratches. Unmarked and unsigned.

Circa: 1900

5185

Tropical Island Caribbean Woman Tooled Copper Relief Framed Picture This vintage hand tooled embossed copper relief picture depicts a tropical island woman, presumably Jamaican or Carribean, with palm trees and tropical foliage in the background. The scantily clad lady wears a sarong and balances a basket of fruit on her head.

The picture is 8 by 10 inches, in a standard ribbed wooden frame that has been painted a copper color that closely matches the copper metal sheet. The artwork is very well done, an enormous amount of fine detail was given to the scene. You can see the muscles and curve of the woman's tummy, the flowered pattern on her skirt, even her toenails.

The frame is in decent, displayable condition with a wire hanger on back but it does have some scuffs to the paint and the inside of the glass looks like it needs to be cleaned. The tooled copper picture itself is in excellent condition.

Circa: 1949

6646

Topless Tropical Bathing Beauty Tooled Copper Relief Framed Picture This vintage hand tooled embossed copper relief picture depicts a topless woman lounging pin-up style beneath a tropical island palm tree, her flower lei tastefully arranged to suggest (but not fully show) frontal nudity. A seagull, clouds, water, and smaller islands with palms are in the detailed copper scene which has a flat black painted background. The artwork is signed with the artist's initials, NB.

The picture is mounted in an American made 9-3/4" by 12" green and black marbled-effect plastic frame with gold trim (no glass). The scene is attractive and well done. There are two very small scuff marks to the black paint in the corner above the initials where copper shows through, otherwise the picture is in excellent vintage condition.

5968

Warty Copper Triple Taper Candlestick Holder I found this heavy copper three-taper candle holder in an antique shop in Montana. I don't think it's antique, maybe 25 to 30 years old or so, probably made in the Middle East or India. It's a little less than 10" long by 5-3/4" high. The three candle cups are arranged down the curved extension in staggered heights. The beaten or pounded finish has an uneven warty texture, meant to look primitive. Unmarked and in good condition with no damage but it does have some patina and age to it.

7463

Saltillo Mexico Hand Wrought Copper Creamer and Sugar Set This heavy Mexican hand wrought copper creamer and sugar set looks very Arts and Crafts style with its riveted brass band decoration, but it probably dates to the 1950s or a bit later. The wide mouth cream pitcher is 4-1/4" high, the elephant ears double handled open sugar is just under 3-1/2" tall. Both pieces are marked on the bottoms: Plateria Saltillo, Saltillo Com., Hecho en Mexico. They have some light marks from use and storage and the sugar rim has a little bump as shown in the second photo.

3330

Antique Primitive Hammered Copper Water Kettle This primitive hammered copper water or tea kettle is close to 200 years old - produced in the first half of the 1800s, probably in Northern Europe - Sweden, Norway, Finland or Denmark. It's very heavy, solid copper with a bronze handle, and completely hand made. It has numerous dents and dings, but the only glaring dent is to the base of the gooseneck spout. The spout has been repaired where it joins to the body - more than once, from the looks of it.

The inside is unlined and not suitable for use, but the original strainer piece is still inside the base of the spout, indicating that it was made and used as a real water kettle, not a decorative piece. The style of lid finial and the way the handle is attached are indicative of Scandinavian origin. The kettle is just over 8" wide from the spout to the opposite side, and about that high with the handle in the raised position.

Circa: 1850

7431

Box Italian Copper Cookware Miniature Christmas Ornaments Unopened This unusual never-used set of miniature or toy copper cookware was made in Italy and marketed as Christmas ornaments. Marked on the triangular box Collection Le Ramelle by Grumetti, the amusing English translated box description reads "Good-bye old traditional little balls, "Le Ramelle" is arrived, it's a wonderful collection of little kitchenware made of pure copper 99.5% that will allow you to decorate your Christmas tree in a new and original way. Hurray to your new Christmas tree!".

There are five pieces of copper: a sieve or colander, a skillet, what appear to be hammered and plain pedestal bowls, and a shallow double handled pan. The pieces are about 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" diameter not including handles, all tied with red satin ribbon hangers. The box is still sealed but the plastic covering has several breaks and the box has a few creases and bends from storage or travel. The copper "ornaments" inside are all in excellent, unused condition. After Christmas you can display the copper pots and pans in your kitchen. Undated but probably from the 1960s or 1970s.

Circa: 1960s - 1970s
