7418

Box 1950s Italian Pine Cone Elves Gnomes Christmas Lights One of the best Christmas light sets I've ever come across: a near mint early 1950s boxed miniature light set made in Italy with 12 pinecone gnomes or elves holding a candle topped by a mini light bulb. The elves have white mica snow frosted pinecone bodies, real cotton batting beards, and molded clay-like composition hand painted faces. They stand on scalloped mica encrusted cardboard bases decorated with lacquered red berries and sprigs of bottle brush pine. Each one is different (one even has teeth!), and each has a different style or color of paper maché composition hat. The hats have wired loops so you can position them with hooks or wire on the tree branches - with wonderful faces like that, you don't want any of them facing the wall or the inside of the tree!

The gnomes spaced 10 to 12 inches apart on an approximately 18 foot long light string. The box is marked Genuine Italian Miniature Lights, If One or More Go Out the Rest Remain Lit. A sticker on the side of the box reads Style Art. 714, Volts 110 - 120, Made In Italy. The box bottom is in great condition but the lid has some creases and the cellophane window is broken and torn. The cord and plug have no wear, the lights all work perfectly and the gnomes are in wonderful condition with only minor age and storage wear. Truly a rare and special find for the vintage Christmas or pine cone elf collector.

6863

Glolite 1950s Lighted Christmas Nativity Scene Display in Original Box This illuminated Nativity scene lighted Christmas display was made by Glolite in the late 1940s to early 1950s. The concave, dimensional dome shape scene is made of thin vacuform plastic and measures 12 by 9-1/2 inches. The Star of Bethlehem is cut out in the sky above the scene so it glows brightly when the scene is lit up.

The display is clean and in good condition with no damage but there are a couple of old tape marks at the top as shown. The back has tape residue at the top as well. Underneath the base written in ink is a 1953 gift notation. The display lights up fine and the cord is in excellent condition. The box has some storage wear but is intact and the graphics on the lid are very nice.

2 Noma Metal Star 1940s Christmas Lighted Tree Toppers Both of these metal lighted star electric Christmas tree top decorations were made by Noma in the 1940s, called Illuminated Christmas Tree Star on the original boxes (not present). Both are made entirely of painted steel and are just over 7" diameter. One has a red back with white mica glitter coating on the upper star, now discolored with rust showing through the worn areas. The other is white with blue at the center and points, the same red back. Both have cords and light up fine but the white and blue star has a replacement cord and socket taped in place at the back and is missing the clear red cover over the center opening. You can trade cords or bulb covers and use whichever style you like best, or use them both as they are. Price is for the pair.

Paramount Tree Top Star Christmas Topper Light in Original Box This late 1940s hard plastic Christmas lighted tree top star is model number 735, the smaller of two sizes made by Paramount. Measuring 5-1/2" wide, the white dimensional 5-point star is outlined in transparent red, giving a nice halo-like glow when lit. A hole at the top point allows you to hang the star from your window. The star lights up fine and has no chips or cracks. There are a couple of minor, light scuffs to the white plastic. The box is in excellent condition with no damage, cellophane window intact. This model didn't come with a cord, it's designed to insert into a standard Christmas tree light string.

Mr Christmas Red Tinsel Twin Star Lighted Tree Topper Decoration Boxed This beautiful Mr. Christmas lighted tree top decoration is the same on both sides. It's in the shape of a dimensional 8-pointed star with clear red plastic jewels arranged in a beaded effect at the spikes of the stars, spiral red plastic center ornaments, and transparent red miniature lights, all surrounded by lush, red metallic foil tinsel.

The box is dated 1976 and marked Made in Taiwan. The wreath lights up fine though one bulb lights only occasionally, it either needs to be tightened or replaced and the cord is in good condition. The box lid is torn at the window opening and is missing the cellophane but the box bottom is intact.

5605

Green Tinsel Bells Circle of Lights Electric Wreath Tree Topper in Box This lighted tinsel wreath decoration is part of a series of "Circle of Light" Christmas decorations. Other styles had candles or figures like elves or Santas in the center. This one has two brass bells with metal clappers dangling from the center, tied with a red ribbon and lacquered holly and berries. The green lights, crystal flower reflectors, and bright green tinsel are very pretty and festive, even when the lights are off.

The box says it's for windows, walls, or doors but my parents used theirs as a tree topper. The wreath lights up fine and is in good condition, though the red flannel ribbon shows some wear. The box has quite a bit of storage and handling wear but is intact.

5711

Fancy Gold Mesh Tinsel Lighted Christmas Candle Wreath This fancy, glittery metallic electric Christmas candle wreath dates to the 1960s. The 14" diameter cardboard base is decorated with feathery gold metallic tinsel trim. In the center are a pair of mesh-covered candles illuminated with gold Christmas light bulbs. The base has a metallic red Punchinello bow trimmed with four gold mercury glass ball ornaments (Punchinello is the stuff that's left over after stamping out sequins, by the way - it was a popular craft and floral ribbon in the Sixties).

The candles light up fine as you can see, though you may wish to replace the old Bakelite non-polarized plug for safety. The gold feather trim around the circular wreath base was wired on and it looks like someone taped the edges in place in a few spots at the back. The back has some bare spots with cardboard showing but they don't show from the front. The red metallic ribbon has been somewhat flattened from storage and the gold mesh has a few breaks, but the wreath still displays nicely.

Circa: 1960s

8 Punched Tin Christmas Light Reflectors A set of eight early metal Christmas tree light reflectors in punched tin (the holes do not go all the way through the metal). I found them in one of my Christmas books identified as Diamond Ray brand, circa 1927. They are flower shaped with 7 rounded petals and are marked on the backs "Patents Allowed And Pend.".

The reflectors are about 3 inches diameter and surprisingly heavy, at least in comparison to later foil reflectors. There is some expected darkening of the metal and light oxidation but all are in good useable condition.

7080

GE Plastic Santa Claus Christmas Light String on Tabletop Tree This retro Santa Claus Christmas light string comes with an artificial tabletop tree to display them on, or use the lights on your own tree, window, or mantle. The lights are USA-made GE brand miniature lights, produced in the 1970s to early 1980s. The string is nice and long, over 16 feet, with 2" hollow plastic full figure Santas covering each of the 20 mini lights. The covers are removable so if the lights burn out you can put them on a replacement string but the lights do work as shown.

The lights were found as shown on the Christmas tree which is included, unless you'd rather not take it. It's about 19" tall with nylon-type needles on a 3-leg plastic stand, marked Made In Taiwan. In good vintage condition, it dates to the same time period as the lights.

6127

Mica Coated Electric Candle Lamp Post Lighted Christmas Decoration This 11-1/4" high mica encrusted electric lamp post or street light can be used alone or as part of a putz Christmas village scene. Made of cardboard, it's completely coated in white crushed glass mica and gold glitter. The base is decorated with glittered dried fern trees, the post has metallic green foil holly leaves and a red lacquered berry.

The red candle bulb lights up fine and the cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, brittleness, or splits. The post is partially loose on the base but still attached, a little glue to the back will ensure it can't accidentally be tipped over. There is some age darkening to the lower base, otherwise the decoration is in excellent condition. The lighting in my pictures make the base look darker than it actually is. The lamp comes with its original cardboard box bottom, plain except for a Made in Japan label and stock number markings. The box bottom is stained and shelf worn but provides good protection for the fragile lamp post.

5 Packs GE Twinkle Bright Transparent C9 Christmas Light Bulbs Five unused packages of General Electric Twinkle Bright outdoor C-9 type transparent colored Christmas replacement bulbs. The package of rare purple or magenta bulbs is missing one, there are only three. One box has 4 solid red, another 4 solid blue. Two more have assorted colors: 2 each gold, red and blue, 1 green, and one replacement white swirl or flame bulb for a total of 19 bulbs in all. The purple bulbs have a 2-digit postal code on the box which dates them to pre-1963 - the rest are from the later 60s to 1970s. They don't appear to have been used and look to be in new condition, but I did test one bulb from each box plus the white and all 3 purples, they all lit up fine.

Good-Lite 1940s Lighted Angel Christmas Tree Topper With Box A Good-Lite Electrified Christmas Tree Top Angel from the 1940s with the original box. Made of thin hollow vacuform plastic with a cardboard backing, the oval angel plaque can be used as a window, mantle, or wall lighted decoration as well as a tree topper. It's 7 by 9 inches and has a light socket with bulb clipped to and opening in the back to illuminate the large winged haloed angel. An unpunched keyhole above the bulb will allow you to hang the angel on a wall or suspended in a window, the coiled metal extension below the bulb fits on to the top branch of a Christmas tree.

The cord and plug are in good condition with no brittleness or damage. There's a little wear to the back edges of the cardboard backing, very minor and nothing that shows from the front. No breaks, cracks, or damage to the angel, and it lights up fine. The box is missing the upper flap and has typical wear from age and storage, one broken but not detached crease to the upper edge. Cellophane window is intact.

7373

Bradford Eames Era Carillon Spire Lighted Tree Topper With Angel Hair Doesn't this funky Eames era plastic tree top ornament look like something that belongs on the Jetsons Christmas tree? Maybe not, it's probably too gaudy for the Jetsons. It's called the Carillon Tree Spire, made in the USA by Bradford in the 1960s.

The topper is made of red metallic hard plastic and has three gold and red bells dangling from the sides and open center cutout globe. The large reticulated ball near the bottom is filled with a swirl of white angel hair. The topper stands 13-1/4" high. This is the electrified version (they were made unlighted as well), with a cord and light bulb that makes the angel hair glow with subtle light.

The topper is in excellent condition with no damage or wear. It lights up fine as you can see, and the cord and plug are in perfect condition. The box is rather flimsy, having never been intended to last 40 or 50 years. It has a loose cellophane window and quite a bit of corner, flap, and edge wear but is still intact.

Fairy Light Tales Lighted Christmas Santa Sleigh With Pixies in Original Box This 1960s lighted Christmas mantle or tabletop decoration is still in its original box labeled "Fairy Light Tales Santa Sleigh Light Set". It was made in Japan for Radiant Decorative Lights of Bronx New York in the 1960s. It features a plastic faced Santa Claus figure in his foil covered wooden sleigh driven by two plastic reindeer figures with a pair of poseable plastic, felt, and chenille pixie elves assisting. The sleigh is filled with foil wrapped gift packages and a green tinsel bottle brush tree. There are lots of charming little details such as metal bells around the reindeers' necks, tinsel and gold braid reins, and a mesh toy sack at the back of the sleigh with a chenille angel and cute chenille teddy bear peeking out the top.

The sleigh decoration is about 14-1/2" long by 5" high. It lights up fine and is in excellent condition with very little wear. The box has a little storage wear but is intact. The picture shows a different style of reindeer but the box is original to the set.

Noma Bubble Lights, String of 3 with Original Box A partial string of 1970s Noma full size Christmas bubble lights with the original box. There are five of the original seven lights, and all five light up, but two are missing the fluid (easily removed and replaced - see my other listings for replacement bubble light parts). The light string is in very good working condition, as are the plastic bases.

Box Commodore Miniature Nativity Scene Christmas Lights This 1960s figural miniature Nativity Christmas light set was made by Commodore. There are 15 lights on the string, each illuminating a 2" high white hard plastic glittered Nativity scene. The set has age and storage wear but I don't think the lights were ever actually used or removed from the box inset. The original instruction sheet and hang tag are present, as is a sealed package of two replacement screw-in mini light bulbs.

The set works up fine as you can see - there is no wear or damage to the cord or plug. Two of the delicate creche scenes are damaged though they still work and display fine. Three of the little gold stars atop the mangers are missing their tails. One missing star with tail was found in the bottom of the box and replaced after the pictures were taken. The box lid has a corner split and two tears to the gold foil as shown.
