6696

1920s Composition Trembling Devil Halloween Ornament Spring Limbs This terrific old trembling devil Halloween figure was found in a box of antique Christmas ornaments. It was made in Japan and dates to the 1920s. The body is made of a cement-like composition material with a thin, delicate coating of painted gesso, some of which has chipped off as shown. The devils is about 4-1/2" high with hand painted face and black composition hands and feet on wired spring arms and legs. The limbs shake and jiggle when hung from the original knitted cotton cord attached to the head.

6211

1951 Kimball Silk Calendar Scarf A terrific vintage silk calender scarf by Kimball commemorating the year 1951. The attractive 34 inch square scarf has a calendar page for each month of the year. Each month has its own illustrated image, some more than one, such as a witch for October, a wedding cake for June, school house for September. The background color is a silvery light grey, the great period graphics are printed in green, yellow, orange, black and white. The scarf has a fabric label marked "A Scarf by Kimball, Pure Silk". In very good condition, I can find no snags, tears, or stains. One corner has two very tiny pinholes, no doubt from the original price tag.

6309

Googly Eyed Boy Mechanical Valentine Card This old child's die-cut Valentine card features a googly-eyed boy in a sailor suit holding a heart. A basket of hearts is at his feet as well as a cat, and My Valentine is written across the brim of the boy's cap. He very much resembles the Campbell Kids style illustrations of the early and mid 1900s, and I would think the valentine dates to no later than about 1920.

The 6-1/2" high card is mechanical - move the hat and the boy's eyes wiggle humorously. A cardboard tab is affixed to the back to make the valentine stand up. It is signed in pencil "To Peanut From Rose Domina". Marked Made in U.S. Am. The lower corners have minor bumping and one crease, otherwise very good condition.

Circa: 1910s

On the front is printed "Ever Faithful To You", and on the back there is an old fashioned verse about love and friendship. 6385

Valentine February Birthday Angel Bell Figurine A rather fancy and very pretty porcelain February birthday angel figurine from the 1950s, about 4-1/2" tall. She's a bell, with the wired ceramic clapper protected up inside her dress and fancy gold trimmed petticoat base. She holds a red heart with gold bow and wears a red heart hat over her coiled platinum ringlets hairdo. Her red and white dress is trimmed with spaghetti fur at the sides and the word February is written in script below her apron. There is little doubt that the angel was made in Japan, but there is no label or manufacturer's mark, just a faintly impressed number on the underside.

One of the angel's wings has been repaired, a clean break and an expert fix - you can see it only looking straight on from the back if you look closely. No other problems.

Lefton 4th of July Boy Figurine A sweet little blue-eyed boy as Uncle Sam figurine by Lefton for July Fourth Independence Day, or for July birthdays. He's 4-3/4" tall, dressed in a long-tailed jacket, bow tie, and stovepipe hat. He holds an American flag in one hand and a pair of firecrackers is near his feet. The base has the word JULY printed in gold.

The underside has the original red and gold foil Lefton's Japan label and the number 2300. There's a little dab of white glue (clear) on the base just to the right of the letter Y. I'm sure it can easily be removed but I thought it best to leave it so I didn't damage the gold lettering. Otherwise excellent condition.

Colorful Turkeys Vintage Figural Salt and Pepper Shakers These figural turkey salt and pepper shakers were made in Japan no later than the 1950s. Each has a banner decal reading "Souvenir of Pocatello Ida." (for Idaho). The decals are easily removable if you don't want to leave them on - one already has a bit of flaking. The male or Tom turkey is 3" tall to the top of the tail feathers, the female is a bit shorter but longer from tail to beak. Both shakers have their cork stoppers intact and are in excellent condition.

5708

Vintage Craft Floral Ribbons Lot with EZ Bowmaker Tool Included in this assortment of vintage craft, floral, and gift package ribbons is a Concord's E-Z ribbon Bow Maker kit in the original box. It comes with instructions, 11 self-adhesive backings, and a full box of plastic bow pins (100-plus).

There's a nice variety of all-occasion ribbons, most on spools, both full and partially used: grosgrain, gift wrap type (sheen and curling), satin, flocked, velvet, metallic, lace, cording and braid including metallic Christmas cord, and a nearly full 50-yard spool of fused edge acetate (satin) ribbon in variegated pastel colors. There are 3 packages of Lacelon Pull-A-String ruffling ribbon, and a cool circa 1960 metal dispenser of metallic green Scotch gift tape. For obvious reasons I did not want to measure it all but there's a whole lot of usable ribbons here for crafting, Christmas, and other holiday occasions.
