|
Rest assured that after years of buying, selling, and collecting vintage ornaments, I have learned how to pack them safely. I know how heartbreaking it can be to hear that awful tinkling when your package arrives and find nothing but shards inside. Your purchases will be carefully packed with no skimping on materials to survive just about any drop, kick or fall the postal service can dish out. |

Tin Litho Winter Sleigh Scene Christmas Tree Stand
A big, pretty 1950s lithographed metal Christmas tree stand with winter snow scenes all around. This type of decorated metal is usually called tin litho but technically I think the metal is steel. The tree stand is 20" diameter at the base, 4" diameter at the top opening and has three adjustable screw supports to hold the tree. It's in wonderful condition for its age, clean with almost no wear to the graphics and only a hint of rust inside. So pretty, there's no way you'll need or want to use a Christmas tree skirt with this stand.

Musical Tinsel Christmas Tree Loaded With Retro Pixies, Elves
This terrific vintage musical revolving tinsel Christmas tree came with three or four pixie elves glued to the branches and base. As a pixie collector myself, my motto is that you can never have too many, so I added a few more. The tree is between 17" and 20" tall, depending on how high you extend the top center branch. The limbs are blue and green metallic foil tinsel, each ends in a gold glass silvered ornament ball (all but two are original). The tree rotates and plays Jingle Bells when you wind it up.
The base is decorated with a tinsel and glittery cardboard drum, a spun cotton Santa gnome peeking out of a paper brick chimney, a foil and velvet wrapped package, and a great pixie in a drum figure with chenille arms and body.
In the tree branches are two knee hugger style pixies, one holding a real pine cone, the other holding a bell ornament, a funky skinny skating Santa pixie, a little cloth face with yarn hair pixie elf at the top, and two package tie-on type pixie heads with polka dot caps and scarfs. The tree is in good vintage condition, displays wonderfully, and the music box works. The wooden music box base is marked Japan. The figures that were added by me are not glued or otherwise permanently attached so you can position them as you like.

Fairy Light Santa's Workshop Pixie Elves Tinsel Tabletop Christmas Tree Set Boxe
This wonderful tabletop lighted Christmas tree decoration dates to the early 1960s. It's a green and blue aluminum tinsel tree, just under 20 inches tall, decorated with mini lights, gold mercury glass bead ornaments and an angel tree topper. Leaning against the tree is a ladder with three climbing skinny pixie elves holding spun cotton lanterns. Another elf and a Santa Claus figure, both also holding lanterns, stand at the base of the tree.
The set comes in its original box with setup instructions on the outside of the box. The tree and figures are in very good condition with minimal signs of wear and use. One light burns very dimly, obviously it's going out but the box says the other bulbs stay lit if one burns out, and of course all the bulbs are replaceable. The box is taped and has storage wear but is intact. The box says "Fairy Light Tales, Santa's Workshop, Electrically Illuminated". It was made in Japan for Radiant Decorative Lights of Bronx New York.

Crystal Pine 1950s Christmas Tree and Candleholders Boxed Centerpiece Set
This is one of those wonderful vintage Christmas items that people brought out to display at the holidays for years and years. It's the Crystal Pine Centerpiece set by Peerless Mfg. Co. of Waukesha, Wisconsin, made in the late 1940s to early 1950s. The box says the tree and candleholders are made of "Brilliant Styrene" - clear hard plastic with embossed pine branches.
The tree stands a little over 11" high when assembled, the star shaped candle holders are 6-1/4" diameter. A tiny colored mercury glass bead ornament dangles from each of the 48 branch tips (the extras shown in the photos were used to replace missing beads - there were just enough).
The tree has 9 separate layers plus the ringed dome stand. I don't see any chips or cracks, and all the pieces are present except the candles that originally came in the box. The set even comes with an 8 by 6 inch glass mirror on which to set the tree - something the original owner probably added, as there's no mention of a mirror on the box. The candle holders have traces of red staining from candle wax. The box has minor soiling and wear from age and storage but is intact with no tears.

1930s Decorated 15 Inch Bottle Brush Christmas Tree with Glass Candles
An old, very beautiful bottle brush style tabletop Christmas tree decorated with mercury glass balls, glass candles, and a glass star at the top. The branches of the 15" high tree, as well as the solid glass candles and star topper, are attached to a steel cone base. You can probably insert a light bulb inside to light up the glass candles and star. I could have done a better job of plumping out the branches for the pictures - they were kind of scrunched up from storage but are easily adjusted and they do not shed.
The tree has twelve 2" glass candles, plus the glass star on top. The star has a few flakes at the points, the candles are all in good condition. In addition, there are about a dozen small 1/2 to 1 inch mercury silvered glass feather tree ornaments hanging from the tree, probably added by the original owner. Again, I could have arranged them better for the photos - I took the pictures with the tree just as it came from storage without any fussing or prettying up. The tree dates to the 1930s, if not earlier, and is still in wonderful condition.

1940s Christmas Angel Net Dress, Composition Face, Mohair Wig - Treetop or Ornament
This lovely old Christmas angel doll figures is 7-1/2" wide, about 6" high, and can be hung on the Christmas tree as an ornament or used as a tree top angel. Her dress is stiff nylon netting with satin lining, decorated with gold foil stars and a gold metallic ribbon sash. The angel's wings are heavy gold foiled paper outlined in thick, furry white chenille. Her head is a composition or clay-like material, with hand painted facial features and mohair blonde hair.
The dresse is a bit dingy but not dirty or stained, though the chenille on the wings does have some yellowing. I see no other problems, just typical signs of age and use common to any 60-plus year old Christmas decoration. There are no labels or markings but I doubt she's any more recent than the post-war 1940s. Two are shown in the photos but only the white dress angel remains - the pink one has been sold.
Circa: 1940s

1950s Noma Plastic Lighted Angel Christmas Tree Topper
This hollow, hard plastic lighted angel Christmas tree top decoration was made by Noma in the 1940s to early 1950s. She's 8" tall from the top of her halo to the hem of her fur-trimmed blue gown and has long folded gold wings and yellow hair. Her eyes are closed and in her clasped hands she holds a red candle with the flame cut out to allow the light to shine through when the bulb inside is lit. The light works fine but the angel does have some non-vital damage at the lower side of her dress where she got to close to a light bulb which caused a melt mark that went all the way through.
Circa: 1940s - 1950s

Ceramic Lighted Christmas Tree in Original Box
This 1970s ceramic table top Christmas tree comes in its original box marked Inspirations by Marcia Ceramics of California. It can be dated by the price sticker on the front which is from a Utah variety store chain that was out of business by the beginning of the 1980s.
The tree is painted dark green with frosted paint "snow" at the tips and is 17" tall. Multi-colored acrylic lights have been inserted into the tree and glued in place. The acrylic star tree topper is present but will need to be re-glued back into the top. An electrical cord with bulb fixture fits underneath the tree, lighting up the colored light decorations. One of the colored lights has a chip, the ceramic tree has no chips or cracks and is in good used condition. The box has wear and a taped corner seam.
Circa: 1970s
