Chenille Candy Cane Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament A pair of fancy decorated 2-1/2" high blown glass ornaments make in Mid Century Japan. Inside the concave recesses in the silvered green glass are little Christmas scenes or displays with chenille pipe cleaner candy canes, lacquered holly leaves, tiny red satin bows, and a flower made of wired mercury glass beads. White mica glitter forms a snowy ground cover and the rims are decorated with silver glitter.

The metal caps are marked Japan. One ornament has a larger candy cane but the condition of the glitter trim and holly leaves is a little better on the ornament with the small cane. Green with Gold Reindeer Glass Diorama Scene Indent Christmas Ornament This green glass indented scene Christmas ornament was made in Japan in the late 1940s to mid 1950s. Inside the concave recess in the glass is a hard plastic golden reindeer figure, standing atop a sprig of bottle brush greenery. There's a ground cover of glittery white mica snow and the opening is decorated with silver glitter. The metal cap is marked Japan. About 2-1/4" high to the top of the cap by 2 inches wide, in very good condition with no damage and very little wear from age and handling.

Pair Antique German Liquid Filled Glass Indent Christmas Ornaments These rare German glass indented Christmas ornaments have blown glass bulbs in the deeply recessed centers which were once filled with liquid. The liquid has long since evaporated, but the ornaments are still lovely. They're about 2-1/4" diameter, blown with the pikes in the back and wire hangers attached at the side between the rims and pikes. The glass bulbs inside are mounted over circles of looped gold wire and have some pink and blue color tinting. One ornament has a small dresden foil flower scrap covering the pontil of the inner glass bulb, the other has lost its scrap flower. The inner mercury silvering has suffered natural deterioration, mostly affecting the backs. It's amazing that such fragile, paper-thin beauties have survived in such great condition for the past 80-some years. Price is for the pair.

Italy Pink Flower Large Diorama Indent Scene Glass Christmas Ornament A scarce, gorgeous vintage Italian blown glass diorama style Christmas ornament with a pink and green flower decoration inside the deeply recessed indented opening. The thin glass ornament is fully silvered, a fat teardrop shape 4 inches long from the pike to the pontil tip by a little over 3 inches wide. The dark pink flower petals in the center are made of fabric, the green spiked grass blades framing the flower from behind are some type of wired excelsior bottle brush type material. The highly reflective silver indent enhances the pretty floral design and gives it a wonderful depth.

The ornament is in excellent condition with no damage and little wear. There is some loss of silvering below the pike and a little cloudiness at the top of the ornament from normal degradation of the inner silvering. The metal cap is marked Made Italy. Great example of a hard to find Mid Century Italian Christmas ornament.

Santa in Sleigh Silver Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament A thin, hollow celluloid Santa Claus figure in his reindeer-driven sleigh is inside the deeply recessed indent of this late 1940s to early 50s Japan diorama scene Christmas ornament. The background is tinted green-blue with mica snowflakes in the sky and white mica glitter snow in the foreground. The silvered mercury blown glass ornament is 2-1/2" wide and has a metal cap marked Japan. It's in excellent vintage condition.

Angel with Bottle Brush Tree Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament Made in 1950s Japan, this red blown glass Christmas ornament has an angel scene inside the indent. The plastic angel figure wears a short red dress and is blowing a trumpet. She stands next to a tall green bottle brush tree, and tiny white foam beads form snow at her feet. The ornament is 2-1/4" diameter with silver glitter at the opening and a metal cap marked Japan.

The rim glitter is worn at the top and bottom. The red finish is crazed or crackled on the back and sides, and the inner mercury silvering has deteriorated. This gives the ornament a semi-transparent look when backlit on the Christmas tree for a nice antique effect. There is some wear to the red finish inside the indent as well.

2 German Mercury Indent Christmas Ornaments Spun Glass Strands Inside A pair of rare 1930s or earlier German blown mercury glass diorama indent type glass Christmas ornaments with double pikes. Instead of a little scene inside the indent, each ornament has a spiderweb-flower of fine spun glass strands in the centers. One ornament is smooth and round with pale blue spun glass, just over 2" diameter. The other has a wide ribbed back and scalloped rim with pale yellow spun glass strands, slightly larger than the other.

The upper pikes have tin metal caps, slightly oxidized. The pikes at the center backs are left open, allowing Christmas tree lights to back light and enhance the center decorations. Both ornaments are very thin and fragile, and have a pearly white coloring from natural loss of the inner mercury silvering. There are some scratches to the outside finish and some dust inside but no breaks or chips, not even to the thread-like spun glass strands. Price is for the pair.

Glass Diorama Scene Indent Christmas Ornament - Santa Claus This blue glass indented scene Christmas ornament was made in Japan in the 1940s to early 1950s. Inside the concave recess in the glass is a hard plastic old fashioned Santa Claus or Father Christmas figure standing beside a pink bottle brush tree. There's a ground cover of glittery white mica snow and some falling snow in the background. The metal cap is a replacement. Santa With Bottle Brush Tree Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament Made in 1950s Japan, this blue blown glass Christmas ornament has a plastic Santa Claus figure beside a green bottle brush tree inside the recessed indent. A layer of painted white snow is at Santa's feet and the rim is decorated with silver glitter. The ornament is 2-1/2" high and has a metal cap marked Japan. It's in excellent vintage condition with the only visible wear being some minor wear to the glitter and crackling to the white painted snow.

Mercury Glass Candle Beads Scene Pink Indent Diorama Christmas Ornament A larger 1950s mercury glass indent scene or diorama Christmas ornament in bright pink with an unusual bumpy or stippled border framing the opening. The 2-1/2" diameter ornament has and attractive beaded candle scene inside. Spikes of mercury glass bead clusters and glittered snow beads surround a blown mercury glass candle with twisted red flame. The metallic pink finish is in good condition with little wear and there are no chips, cracks, or damage. The metal cap is marked Japan.

Mercury Glass Candle Gold Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament This blown glass indented scene Christmas ornament was made in Japan in the 1940s to early 1950s. Inside the concave recess in the glass is a little blown mercury glass candle. The candle scene is trimmed with dried air fern greenery, wired mercury glass beads, glitter, and tiny foam snow beads.

About 2" diameter, the ornament has some wear to the glitter around the rim and the wire stem to the beaded flower is loose. The gold colored finish has minor spottiness at the back from age and handling. The metal cap is marked Japan.

Sugar Bell Gold Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament Made in 1950s Japan, this fancy blown glass diorama Christmas ornament has a scene in the indent of a tiny plastic mica coated sugar bell with red mercury glass bead clapper. Behind the bell is an arrangement of delicate glittered dried air fern and foam snow beads. The gold colored ornament has silver glitter at the rim and a metal cap marked Japan. About 2" diameter, it's in very good vintage condition with very slight wear to the gold finish from age and handling - mostly darkening of the color near the cap.

Concave Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas Ornament Angel Inside This mouth blown silvered glass indented diorama scene Christmas ornament is an earlier pre-war Japan made version. The glass is heavier than those made after 1945 and it's a little bigger than the later ones at 2-1/2" high by 2-3/8" diameter. Inside the concave recess in the glass is a celluloid angel figure. The ornament is very pretty with lots of glittery white mica snow and a purple tinted background behind the angel. The angel's gown is pale pink, her hair and halo are painted gold. The ornament looks better in person than my dark, out-of-focus picture shows. Very good vintage condition with just a little oxidation on the metal cap, no damage.

Village Church Scene Glass Diorama Indent Christmas Ornament This old red blown glass indented scene Christmas ornament was made in Japan. Inside the concave recess in the glass is a little snowy village scene. The tiny composition paper building is a church I believe. Standing next to it is a green chenille pine tree and some wired mercury glass beads. Foam snow beads cover the lower portion of the scene. The opening is decorated with silver glitter. The metal cap is marked Japan. About 2" diameter by 2-1/4" high, the ornament has a few minor scratches on the red back and mild wear from age and handling.

Glass Diorama Snowman Holly Scene Indent Christmas Ornament These glass indented scene Christmas ornaments are from the 1940s to early 1950s. Inside the concave recesses in the glass are spun cotton snowmen with black chenille top hats amid lacquered holly leaves and berries plus two mercury glass bead spikes. The ornaments have silver glitter around the indent openings and white mica snow backgrounds inside, and are a light blue color. The metal caps are marked Japan.

Bottle Brush Christmas Tree Scene Red Glass Diorama Indent Ornament This 1950s Japan red blown glass diorama has a scene inside the recessed indent of trees and wired glass mercury bead flower in the snow. The trees are made of green chenille and pink spun cotton or pressed paper, covered in glitter. The snow is represented by tiny foam snow beads. The rim of the 2" ornament is decorated with silver glitter, and the metal cap is marked Japan. The ornament is in excellent condition, still very reflective with good coloring and very little wear.

Celluloid Halo Angel Scene Glass Diorama Indent Christmas Ornament Japan produced this style of blown glass indented scene or diorama Christmas ornament both before and after World War II. The angel figurine inside this one is celluloid, so I think it may be one of the earlier ones. It's 2-1/4" diameter, silvered on the outside with a dark pink interior frosted with white mica snow at the bottom and dots of mica snowflakes behind the angel. She has a pink gown and gold halo with large wings. The metal cap is marked Japan.

There are no chips or breaks but the ornament has lost much of its inner mercury silvering in the back, causing a pearly near-transparent, antique appearance. A couple of small specks of glue from manufacture, yellowed with age, are on the upper and lower left side of the ornament rim.

The entire ornament is tinted a bright metallic pink color. The metal cap is marked Japan.
