Circa: 1930s Country of Origin: United States
A terrific 4-piece kitchen timer and range shaker set that was made to hook over the back panel of a vintage (circa 1930s) stove. The timer is made of very heavy porcelain glazed ceramic and measures 4-3/4" wide by 4" high.

The gold colored back plate is oxidized but I'll bet a little brass polish would clean it up nicely (test a small amount first before trying though as the chrome overlay design may not react the same way as the back plate). The red Catalin or Bakelite timer dial is marked Mark Time, the back is marked Made In U.S.A. The timer does work and has a nice loud ding (and somewhat loud ticking as it's counting down the minutes). There's a faint spider crack on the top, shown in closeup in the fourth photo.
The salt and pepper range shakers are also high glazed porcelain ceramic, 3-1/2" tall. They're made to fit right up along either side of the timer, forming an arched rectangle. The shakers are decorated with Art Deco lines and the letters S and P in black. The pepper has a very tight, fine hairline in the back which appears to affect the glaze only. There is a hard rubber stopper stuck inside. The salt has no stopper.
All three pieces fit onto a black enameled cast iron shelf with curved hooks in the back to hang from the top back panel of the stove. It's 11-3/8" long by about 2" deep by just over 2" high to the hooks. It's marked only with impressed numbers and the letter S. I wish my pictures were better, it's truly one of the neatest old kitchen accessory items I've seen.
