Circa: 1950s Country of Origin: Japan Manufacturer: Norcrest
This amusing and perhaps slightly shocking 1950s bell figurine is a girl in a cook's or chef hat and dress. She holds an upside down goose in one hand, the other is hidden beneath her apron. With that side-glancing, determined look on her hand painted face, one could only imagine what's in her other hand - a butcher knife maybe?
The bell is about 4-1/2" high. It's in excellent condition with ceramic wired clapper intact, no chips or flakes. The applied pink rose and green leaves on the apron bodice have no damage, the girl's facial features are well painted, and there is little wear to the gold trim. The underside is marked with a black letter N in a circle, which I believe is a 1950s early Norcrest Japan mark.
