Circa: 1960s Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Corning Ware
This scarce Corning Ware Electromatic Skillet model number P-12-ES is an electric buffet warming or hot plate for use with Corning square skillets, hot plates, and dutch ovens, produced from 1961 to 1971. It comes complete with a white Corning 10-1/4 inch square "skillet" or casserole and glas lid. The design on the casserole is a simple, elegant black scroll which I believe was part of their 1960s Black Trefoil line.
The warming base has two black handles which are situated well away from the 10 by 11 inch heating surface. The temperature dial ranges from 200 to 425 degrees and the white light illuminates red when the heat is turned on. A printed metal guide to cooking temperatures of various foods and dishes is mounted next to the temperature dial. The unit heats up fine and is in excellent, clean condition with no damage and little if any wear. The casserole and lid are also spotlessly clean though the lid has some shallow flaking on the inside inner rim. The cooking suface heats up fine and the cord has no wear or damage.
