This scarce 1930s free blown art glass Christmas ornament is a clear glass drop on a silvered ball. A mercury glass spike rising from the bottom of the drop supports an embossed die cut paper scrap Victorian style angel with tree. I've only seen a few of these ornaments - they required great skill by glass artisans and were never mass produced.
The ornament is a little over 4 inches high. The center band, pike end, and back are coated in white mica glitter, surrounded by clear painted amber stripes at either side of the dome. The lower ball is finished in rust and dark green - there are some scratches to the finish as shown from age and handling, and there's a little wear to the mica at the back of the ornament. No chips, breaks, or damage.
