This authentic silver kugel glass Christmas ornament was made in Germany in the late 1800s. Rather than the standard round ball, it's in the harder to find, uncommon oval grape cluster form, measuring 3-1/4 inches long by a little over 2 inches wide.
The kugel has some loss of the inner mercury silvering, causing a whitish coloring with the top shoulder having some transparency. The glass has no damage and I don't see any bubbles in the heavy glass. The brass cap is the baroque 5 swirl with balls style. It has some verdigris but the cap is tight with no sliding. I have had luck removing the green verdigris with pure white vinegar and a cotton swab but will leave that to the buyer if desired.
