C.1890. This is a wonderfully gritty image of a late 19th century railroad engineer. He has obviously just paused for a moment from his duties, because he is clearly in his soiled work clothes. His hand is moving slightly as if he is anxious to get back to his familiar world. The his watch chain shows well. Photographer ID is an imprint on back: Ben Biscombe, No. 69 South Poplar St., Hazleton, Pa. Size 4 1/4 x 6 1/2. Condition is excellent. Very slight fading and aging to mount. Very little wear. This photo was obviously well protected in an album. |
