C.1880. Outstanding image of a policeman from Gloucester, Massachusetts. His badge appears to say “SPECIAL POLICE, GLOUCESTER.” I’m not sure what the “Special” denotes. I can’t quite make out the badge on his hat. A very human portrait of this old fellow in his humble uniform. Nice watch fob and chain. Photographer: Adams, 192 Main St., Gloucester, Mass. Size 4 1/4 x 6 1/2. Condition of both the image and card are very good. There is some modest soiling, but the edges show almost no wear. This must have spent most of its life in an album.
