This is one of the nicest old photo albums weve seen. The photographs do a good job at showing just how nice it is.
The brass stand is fantastic and in fine condition. Good and sturdy and the folding mechanism works great. Its a beautifully engineered piece with fine decorative detailing. Another nice touch on the stand is an area of velvet that was protected from aging, because it was covered by the album. As a result, you can see what the velvet looked like when it was new.
The velvet on the album and the stand has just moderate wear and is in very good shape. But unlike so many of these old albums, this one is not all frayed and torn. This one was well cared for.

The beautiful brass clasp is still in place on the album and it works, though it has lost its little pin on one side. Im pretty sure this can be fixed with a little care. Note the fine decorative mirror and brass frame on the album cover.
Inside there are 18 album pages that accept photos on both sides (could be described as 36 pages). There are openings for photos in various sizes and shapes. The page surface is a wood grain look. The first 10 pages have some tears where the cabinet photos were mounted. Last 8 pages are in pretty good shape. The binding is in reasonably good shape with just some looseness on one side. It has not ripped apart or anything, but like any old album it needs to be handled with care.
Inside the back cover is a patent label dated 1895, 1896 and 1898. The label says Ox Yoke at the top. This might refer to the latch mechanism on the album or to the stand mechanism.
SIZE: The ALBUM is 9" x 11 1/2" x 3 1/4". The STAND when open is 14 1/2 high x 8" wide x 8 1/2" deep.
There were no photos in the album when we purchased it, though we have about 12 extra cabinet photos that we could include with the album if you wanted them. These are the large 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" photographs from the 1880s and 1890s.
