We are not experts on old games, but this one is very old and looks like it's from the 1910-1920 era. The clothing and hairstyles of the people shown on the box seem to be from that time period. Very colorful box with a wonderful illustration of the family playing the game in their living room. The cover says "TABLE CROQUET" and also "MILTON BRADLEY CO., SPRINGFIELD, MASS, U.S.A. There is also a seal that says "BRADLEY’S, THE WORLD’S BEST GAMES. Made In America. 4333." The box measures 5 1/4" x 11 1/2" x 1 1/2". (See photos).
Remarkably, it looks like all or most of the pieces are here. 2 wooden mallets, 3 wooden balls, 9 metal hoops with their wooden support stands, little green felt mat and 2 wooden posts (wickets?). In addition, there are 2 black plastic balls that look like they were attached to wooden sticks. We’re not sure they are part of the game, but they were in the box.
The box itself is cardboard, however the box top is completely covered on the top and sides with a paper cover that is printed in nice colors. The paper is in surprisingly good condition on the top and 2 sides… not perfect, but intact with moderate wear and two small corner holes. For a game this old, it seems quite remarkable for the box and paper to be even this intact with nice colors. The other 2 side panels have some paper loss, though not all that bad. Some of the missing pieces are in the box.
As you might expect, the paper on the box is somewhat brittle and the underlying cardboard is slightly warped in a few places, but it can be handled as long as you are careful. The cardboard of the box top is fully intact, probably due to being reinforced by the paper. The box bottom is very worn and one side has come apart, though some of the pieces of that side are in the box. You can see the condition in one of the photos.
