This amazing, rare piece is one of the actual posters hurriedly put up in Paris on September 3, 1914. This was in the first days of World War One and the huge German Army was closing in on the city. General Gallieni called on the citizens of Paris to rally to stop the Germans. The entire fleet of Paris taxicabs was used to frantically rush French reserves to the battlefront where they won the Battle of the Marne which saved France.
This is a piece of history from one of the turning points of 20th century. Since it is on newsprint, it is remarkable that it has survived. Printers imprint: Paris, Imp. Marcel Piccard, 140 rue de Faubourg-Saint Martin. Size: 19 3/4" x 25 3/4".
