A delightful occupational image from the 1880-90 period. It’s a rural fish monger in his cart. In pencil on the back it says, "Old doll pulling fish cart, grandpa driving.

" Neat looking cart. In the close up you can see grandpa is holding what looks like a horn. He likely used the horn to announce his presence to customers as he drove along. He’s smoking a pipe, too. Nice clear image.
On the back is the photographers imprint with negative number. A. W. Howes & Co., Turners Falls, Mass. Size: 4 1/4" x 6 1/2". Condition excellent with very modest soiling on mount.
